I can't imagine. When I travel with babies in diapers I pray they don't poop on the plane and it smells and have to change them,in the bathroom.. Gaaaah. But now I know it cool. Poop away on the seat!
you can get a direct flight from Beijing to Detroit???
Delta does.
This is disgusting. I have to wonder if there is more to this story. Open defecation is common in rural areas (although not as much in China as other places) so I wonder if that came into play here. Or maybe the child was autistic or had some sort of phobia. I honestly don't know.

From what I understand it's pretty common for kids everywhere in China. Chinese tourists in HK sometimes let their kids go anywhere. There was a video of a kid pooping in the street that went viral over here a few months ago. Anyway, HK people hate it and it causes a lot of tension sometimes.

While this is obviously disgusting and wrong, cultural norms and language barriers may be at play, here. The article says it was the grandparents who told the child to poop right there. I'd bet this was their first time on an airplane and they truly didnt understand.
My sister lived in China and in many rural areas, babies and young children did not wear diapers, toilets were not used (even if available). Another unimaginable? They used the same rag to wipe up urine/feces as they used to wipe the area where food is prepped/cooked, with nothing but a dunk in a bucket of dirty water between the uses.

We had this discussion Sunday night! We had a houseful of guests and DH who were flying out. We had picked up some Wings and were teasing about how the fellow passengers may not appreciate all the spicy food they were eating. Someone joked that they would just go in thee seat if the line got too long for the toliet. I said if you can think it, it has probably happened. Ewwwwww!
Not surprising. There was a story about an adult male from the Mainland doing this here in Hong Kong a few weeks ago, though it was on the street, not on a plane.
