I applied and interviewed for a position at a different org. This would be a promotion. During my interview with the director, I told her what I'm looking for in a starting salary but also said to make their best offer. If I heard her correctly, she said it was "mid range".
I received a call yesterday and they offered me the position. I have not accepted yet.
Now when it comes to pay, during the interview the director and I discussed my base rate pay and my FTE (I'm .9). I frequently work as a 1.0 and average 2 hours of OT per week (i work in healthcare so OTs not that big of a deal) <-- I told her in worked extra etx but only wanted to know my base. Additionally I receive bonus pay for my education and certifications <-- the org I interviewed with has this also but I wouldn't be eligible because of the position.
The salary they offered me was 20k less than what we originally discussed (I recognize I said make best offer), but it's also $2300 less than what I made last year including my standard bonus pay and OT.
I'm speaking with the HR rep tomorrow. How do I approach this with them? I really want the position but there's no way I can take what they offered.
Thanks for the replies. They came Up by 5%. Still not even close to something livable For me.
I'm not giving up hope. They need someone by Sept and The skill set their looking for is very unique and matches me. They might call me back. You never know!
Never mind. I came to my senses and realized I was over valuing myself. I'm taking the position. I've been waiting for this kind of opportunity for years.

I'm confused, I thought the salary was not enough to live on?
