We had Micah's dermatologist appointment this morning to get the mole checked out I found above his ear earlier this month. The original pediatrician told me he wasn't concerned, but after I insisted on a referral, he said he would put one in. Two weeks went by and I still hadn't heard anything so I went back up there and found out he never put it in. I spoke to another doctor and he wasn't concerned either, but did put it in for me. Well, the dermatologist was pretty concerned because of a few different factors, so she did a biopsy in her office. That was fun. It's going to take 10-14 days to get the results back. He had one removed when he was two that was abnormal, so it's going to be a long two weeks.

Try not to worry just yet. Remember that doctors are always thinking about liability so they will biopsy things that are only a little concerning just to be on the safe side. When I worked in derm probably 85% of all mole biopsies would come back benign.

I am sorry. I hope it is nothing. Two weeks is so long, that's rediculous.
How did he do during the biopsy?
He freaked. This is the same kid who has to be held down when his throat has to be swabbed. Thankfully it was quick and it only took me to hold him down. Lexi was sitting beside Eli in one of the chairs saying "it's alright Micah! Don't cry!"
Thank you TrudyCampbell. She told me it's rare in kids, but she wanted it to be safe.
Thinking of you guys, and hoping it's nothing. I've had dozens of moles removed and biopsied since I was a young kid, I'm sure it'll be nothing. It's good you're on top of it and being persistent!
