Now that we got our bitching out in the other thread, post something happy here.
My kids are going to Nan and Pop Pop's for the weekend! We never do this, but I am driving them down Friday and we'll pick them up on Sunday afternoon. H and I going to a movie Friday night (eating popcorn for dinner - yay!). I'm doing my long run and ride on Saturday morning, and then we're shopping all afternoon. We are going to wander aimlessly through as many stores as possible. Fancy dinner Saturday and sleeping in on Sunday. I rearranged my schedule to make Sunday my rest day just for this purpose. I am so excited.
I'm not the only one who is excited. DD packed her bag a week ago. She has been sleeping with the packed bag (full of stuffed animals) all week.
I'm really looking forward to running tonight in this GLORIOUS reprieve from the heat (or just humidity) funny when highs in the mid 80's=glorious reprieve from heat, but it's true!!
Also, I am LOVING my audio books- it's making my longer commute pretty enjoyable!

The high is going to be 89* tomorrow. DH & I high-fived over this. LOL

I'm still riding the high of my latest 5k PR (28:47) from last night, which was a 24 second PR. I also am hoping for a PR of sub 1 hr at my 10k this weekend. I'm running another 5k tonight as well. I love the weather we are having for all my running as well. I'm excited for this weekend too.

Oh and my ankle is feeling so much better at the moment. Maybe I'll go out to beat my PR from last night. Is that stupid? Please someone talk me down from this.

My wife got her promotion! She'll go back to third shift on 8/11, but we've BTDT so I'm not worried. Plus there's a good chance that she'll be back on first within a year or so because of a couple of expected retirements.
It's almost time for our adult weekend! Just a few more weeks and we'll be spending 3 glorious nights in a cabin in the hills with friends while the boy has a long weekend with his grandparents. Woot!
I just reserved the rental car that we will use to drive us to a farm in Tuscany, for a lunch & wine tasting. Wheeeeeee!!!! Vacation planning is almost as much fun as the actual vacation.
I now have a baby belly rather than just looking chubby Oh and we heard the baby's HB this morning again, so cute.
H&F happy things - not much for me, maintaining whatever level of fitness I can. H is going on a trail run in Moab Utah in September so he's crazy excited.
I made it to the 5:30 running group run this morning! Not only did I run pretty well, I'm happy about it b/c it means I won't feel shitty about missing my workout because of work.
I went in to have my fasting glucose measured this morning. I had it measured three months ago and got pissed off that it hasn't budged from it's elevated level since I stared having it measured (3 years). My levels are down 13 points and I'm comfortably in the normal range finally! I'm so thrilled and feel victorious FINALLY!

This week is a build week on our im plan. I am tired but not as exhausted as I thought I would be. I had a solid run this morning and was able I maintain a good pace despite it feeling like I was running on the surface of the sun.

My before and after pics! The pic on the left in May 2013 and the one on the right is from today....right after I finished running a 12:38 mile which is the fastest mile I've ever run! Speed work can be fun!
I'm going to have a blast at my Irongirl (sprint) tri on Sunday- 8 friends from my hometown and other spots are meeting (racetown is in a central spot) and some of these folks I haven't seen in years. I can imagine a ton of laughs Saturday night and on Sunday Besides the fact- I'm doing a triathlon- yay me!!
So....will they yell "you are an Irongirl" at me as I finish, cuz that's about the closest I'll get to hearing "Labbie, you are an Ironman" .....at least for now ;-)
I turned 35 on Monday and as I fell asleep Monday night I took some time to think about and relish in how HAPPY I am right now in my life. Just...happy.
Of course, it's been a perfect 75 degrees and sunny for like 4 days in a row in Chicago so it might have to do with that.
On of my running bffs just switched work so we can run a trail 10k together!!! Hooray!
Small favors today--my dental insurance is awesome, the vicotin just kicked in, the novicane has worn off, and I had a delicious lunch. I just *might* be productive this afternoon!!!
I just booked DH's and I 10th anniversary trip. We are going on a hot air balloon ride in Letchworth State Park NY in late September. We are renting a cabin near a lake, taking the dog, and our bikes. We plan on hiking, biking, wineries, breweries, and the hot air balloon ride. I am so excited!!

There is family in my area who is missing their dog- he was scared by the fireworks on July 4. I don't know them at all, but I run on the paths where he has been. They have a FB page and there are signs everywhere. After a few days of no sightings, they just posted that he was seen right near the traps were set up. Am I overinvested? Maybe, but I have a good feeling that he makes it home soon!
I have a girls night planned with some new running friends- I'm excited about that!
