So my reflective vest and my Nathan fuel belt smell funky. The reflective vest specifically says no washing, just wiping with a cloth and the Nathan fuel belt doesn't say whether you can wash it not.
I'm guessing the reflective vest says no washing because the friction in the washer would rub off the reflective part. I'm starting to have that problem with my amphipod singlet just from regular use.
I'd wash the fuel belt with other clothes and hang dry.
I kinda live on the edge with laundry. I'd probably turn the vest inside out and wash it in a lingerie bag.
I also live on the edge with laundry but since the vest's primary function is to be reflective and I know that the washing machine diminishes or destroys reflectivity (at least in my washing machine), I'd try something else before throwing it in the machine. though washing machine would be my last resort prior to throwing it in the garbage.
Soak it in a mixture of water and vinegar for a half hour or so and then either hand wash with a little detergent or toss in with your clothes and hang to dry.
