Are your toddlers ocd when it comes to certain things. DS has routines for certain things and won't deviate. Like brushing his teeth, after we are done, he has to rinse his toothbrush and then hand it to me. He won't hand it to DH and flips out if DH tries to take it (like if for some reason I walked in the other room). He also has to make sure doors are closed.
We very much try to stick to routines with him, but are we taking it too far and causing this OCD-ness or is this normal toddler behavior??
DS must turn off all of the lights when we leave the room and certain doors must be shut (pantry, closets, certain bathrooms, etc.). He doesn't like to leave certain things out of their "normal" state-but has no problem leaving a room of toys and books thrown all over the place.
I vote normal. DS must have his curtains opened in the morning as soon as I walk in the room. DH must carry him from the bathtub to the bathroom for teeth brushing. Doors must be closed, only sandals in the summer (like daddy), etc etc. He's very "particular" as my mom calls it. So I hope it's normal!
DD threw a 15 minute tantrum because I forgot to have her touch the side of the car before putting her in her seat. She throws a secondary tantrum after every tantrum if I don't give her a wet wipe to wipe her nose. We try to harness her routines for good and use them for consistency throughout her day.
Yep. If she's coloring she always has the brown and orange crayons in her one hand. Always and never other colors. She lets us use other crayons but not the orange and brown. She only hands DH the empty pouch when she wants someone to help her get the last bit out. Even if I offer, she'll say No.

Normal. Toddlers learn about their environment by understanding relationships between things and routines. Their brains create rules about how things are supposed to happen and it's hard for their little minds to wrap around changes to their rules. I think it's pretty funny to watch.
DS is very particular about having his hands clean while eating, turning off lights, shutting doors, etc.
