Is there a way to use wifi to make/receive calls? 100% wifi, no signal needed? Our house turned into a giant freaking dead zone this weekend and it hasn't resolved. I'm at work and just checked my BP and it spiked (I've been told to monitor as I'm showing signs of heading toward pre-eclampsia). I was told previously not to stress a single reading too heavily, to wait 30-40mins while laying down and see if it goes down, and to call if not. Soooo I would like to go home and lay down, but if it stays where it is, I don't have any way to get a call to my dr. Wifi works fine at home, so if there was like a skype or similar app that would let me place calls to a regular phone #, that would be helpful. I could ask a neighbor if it comes to that, but I'd really rather they not be all up in my business if I can avoid it.
This is how we are able to make calls and still be in the house. We have almost no signal inside.
Though for some reason the speaker phone doesn't work that great. There can be some echoy-ness, at least on our phones. Not using the speaker phone? Works great.

If you add credit to your skype account you can make calls to landlines/ cells.
I don't think it is much to start $5 or $10 worth of credit. Calls. I haven't used it to call from the us to the us. Calling home from outside is like $0.02 a minute.
I don't remember if google voice charges anything it has been a long time since I've used it.
