I just spent $230 today on clothes. And about $100 last week.
And I'm unemployed. LOL.
In truth $200 of that was for 2 jackets and an amazing black professional dress to wear for interviews, but still. The rest was just because I hate all my clothes and wanted new stuff. Thank goodness for severance, but yes, I need to reign it in in case I don't find a job as quickly as I'm hoping...
I'm in the same boat. And really this is the worst time of year for me: I need some new fall/winter shoes and school supplies kill me. Of course I need all the pretty pins for my office!

I need to reign my spending in too. I have been good on the shopping but have been eating out way to much. I need to get back on the habit of bringing breakfast and lunch to work rather than eating out. I could probably cut down on the happy hours too

Spending way too much money but its all travel related. $2500 plus airfare for 13 nights of hotel, private car and driver and multiple tours in various Indian cities. And thats only for 1 part of my trip! Must go rob a bank now
A little. Thank Lord I'm nearing the end of my lease I have 5 more months of being in this lease and paying this godawful rent that literally is 85% of my monthly income. After all my bills, I have $200 leftover....for everything (groceries, toiletries, going out, anything else that pops up). So the month I had a $225 cat vet bill pretty much anything else for the month was out of savings. I really feel like I am pretty buttoned up with not spending anything unless its groceries or maybe going out for a drink once a week with a friend so I'm not a hermit. Of course I've also treated myself to things like some clothes or shoes, but don't spend more than like $40 or $50 at a time...which feels like $5,000 lol.

I was just thinking this the other day...between eating out, happy hours and some redecoration...I am spending too much. I think at least need to get used to the new income so I know how much I can actually afford
I definitely need to get in on this. We've spent a good chunk on items for the new house, & I mindlessly shop a lot. Since I'm paying down all my medical bills from the beginning of the year, I really need to stick to the budget I planned out and stop spending on frivolous items. I mostly do small purchases, you do a few of them it starts at it really quick!

I'm here too. It's not so much the buying things, it's the constant eating out and food delivery. I'm planning a freeze for August as well. I'll go out once a week, but my days of getting takeout on a Tuesday are over! Also, I have 3 family birthdays in August, so that's going to feel fun on the wallet.

Me me me!
I should have way more in my personal checking/savings (vs. our joint checking/savings) than I do. It’s my fun money and I’ve been having a bit too much fun with it.
Like shoes. And clothes. And yet, there's a heels.com banner above displayed right now. Curse you, Patrick.
Anyone else need to revamp their spending habits a bit?
I am doing this. I have an excel spread sheet typed out with EVERYTHING I purchase. I'm trying to double my car payments so I'm definitely on a non essentials spending freeze.
Not that I spend tons of money on non essentials anyway, but I bought a vape kit to stop smoking and that was $80, and I've got a few concerts coming up that I already have my tickets for. Other than that I'm budgeted to a tee and have like $200 extra a paycheck ($400/mo) just in case.
I'm usually pretty good but I've had a lot of outgoing expenses lately. They are necessary so it is hard to reign it in. I also do need to make some additions to my wardrobe soon, I'd just like to shore up my savings a bit more first.
Yes! My salary varies because of commission. I need to save more for the lean months. Money has been a source of stress for me a lot lately but it's my own fault.

Of course, despite telling myself I need to reign in the spending - I spent last night planning a couple upcoming vacations. I keep telling myself that I've had a rough year - totally deserve those vacations, right?

So where do you ladies (WinterIsComing and onedayatatime) going? Maybe this isn't the right thread for this, but I hope it's okay.
I am trying to decide on a trip for September over what would have been my anniversary. I'm leaning towards Austin - never been, always wanted to go, and cheap airfare. I figure it is better than sitting at home moping.
October I think I am going to Denver for a work thing and am going to extend it into a long weekend. I went to college there so I have a few friends who are still there.
November I am running a half marathon in Vegas with two coworkers so we are going to stay for a few days after to relax.
Ha, so definitely not reigning in the spending. But it will be a fun couple months

Lol, ok, we're on the same page. Sounds like a lot to look forward to!
I rented a camper (onsite) in Maine for me and my 3 siblings in Sept. Then hopefully visiting my college bff in RI another weekend.
October will be Oktoberfest in Baltimore w 3 bnotb-ers, and then going to houston/austin to meet another.
Nov-Dec, visiting BFF in Bogota for my bday (and smuggling a turkey there to cook them Tgiving dinner, lol).

Did you go to school in Denver (or Boulder, FoCo, etc.?)
