I'm 95% done with The Goldfinch. It's long and kinda depressing. No specific goals for the month. When I finish it will be # 43 of my yearly goal of 52.
I am reading the Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman. Good so far, although I'm only a few chapters in - considering it's military history, which isn't my favorite, I'm finding the writing to be engaging. It's lengthy, though. And it's only about the first month of WWI!
I'm traveling for the last week of August, so I don't know about reading goals. On one hand, I'll need reading material (this is why I love my kindle) on the flight to and from Paris and the train to and from Belgium. On the other hand, I'll be doing a lot of stuff and I'll be exhausted by the end of the day during that week, so we'll see!
I'm about to start the 4th Bride Quartet book by NR, Happy Ever After. I meant to finish the series a week ago but have been too busy. It will be 28/40. So far I'm 4 books ahead.
I've noticed on Goodreads I've read a lot of light romance or fiction this year. Grad school has killed me from reading anything deep, and with the licensure exam studying and taking coming up I don't see it changing. It's bumming me out.
I'm not sure what I want to read after this. I really want to read The Book Thief but I keep putting it off until I have a good chunk of days to get absorbed by it and those days are not in the near future haha.
I'm trying to get through Blood Promise the 4th VA book but it's been slow going. I mainly need to finish my IRL book club book this month but I'm going on a last minute trip to Disney next week and we have the MN state fair coming up so that's probably all I'll get to this month.

I finished Herald of Death and began Decked with Folly to catch up/finish the Pennyfoot Hotel series. I enjoyed Herald of Death, but it feels like there is something the author/characters want to say but they are hmmm-ing and haw-ing about it and it's really getting on my nerves.
Reading wise, I want to finish at least 4 books. Otherwise it's my birthday month and I'm spending a long, indulgent weekend in Melbourne with DH at a fancy-smancy hotel. We'll be meeting friends for dinner while we're there so I am excited about that. I have also started a 0 to 5K walking program, to go with my tap classes and yoga for exercise, so I want to be really good about that. And I am trying to be better about keeping my food diary/calorie counts. Overall, I am just trying to be healthier and I am trying to make little changes one at a time so I have a better chance of sticking to them. Lastly, I'm hoping to get a Christmas stocking finished for my cousin's little boy. Then I have 7 more to make for the rest of my cousin's/friend's kids.
I'm reading An Echo in the Bone (reminding myself what happened) in preparation for Written in my Own Heart's Blood. I'm also listening to The Golem and the Jinni. I was just able to renew it for 2 more weeks from my library, but I'm still only 1/3 done. I think I need to pick shorter audiobooks.
I have all sorts of ideas about what to read next...too many good options!
I just started 'The Invention of Murder' by Judith Flanders. For the pp reading the Gillian Flynn novel, I would recommend 'Sharp Objects'. Out of the three she's written, that's my absolute favorite and I'll probably read it again this month. I'm at 56/100 for the year. So three behind schedule but I plan on making that up this weekend.
I'm brand new here, I love reading so I thought I'd be most comfortable jumping into book club! Right now I'm reading "An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth", I like it a lot so far. My goal for the year is 30 books, I'm at 20 right now.

Welcome!
I haven't read the book, but I am going to see Chris Hadfield speak later this month. I may have to pick up the book after that.
