I'm just feeling really down in the dumps. No particular reason, just feeling blue. H is gone again, the anniversary of my dad's death is almost here, I'm feeling fatter than ever, my little girl is going into junior high, and I have heartburn.
I'm consoling myself by doing some of my grocery shopping with a local company that delivers food from the farmer's market. Do I really need to pay $4.95 for three large peaches? No, but they'll be delivered to my door, so I'm doing it anyway.
RockNVoll--we have nine laying hens, which could equal about 55 eggs week. Eek! I will happily send you some although I can't guarantee they won't show up across the country unbroken
cajunmom, that sucks, I hope this funk passes soon.

Ohhh @mrschicken I'm SO jealous! I spend more time and effort to buy the free-range eggs here, but the best are still when we're in England, and the neighbors with chickens share their eggs. I have become a total egg snob, regular ones from the grocery store just don't do it for me anymore.
cajunmom hugs, lady. You enjoy the hell of out those expensive peaches, ok?
I'm going to the beach this weekend with some girlfriends, so I need to hurry and get ready to leave. I'm excited to have a relaxing weekend away and to spend more time with people that I like but don't yet know super well.

We have 8. I never did the math. Oh, good lord.
My random is that we had a thunderstorm all night long. Most was off in the distance, so we only saw the lightening. The problem was when we had a close clap, as Wyatt tries to attack it. We had the radio and a fan on for white noise, and closed the windows to keep it quiet. The result is no sleep for hamster, Mr. Hamster, or Wyatt.

Wow...now I'm jealous of your local friends who get to share in this bounty! We have a small farm operation nearby that sells their eggs four days out of the week but they go really fast and I don't get up early enough to snag some. That's what I get for being lazy, but more sleep > fresh eggs in my house.
There are tons of fresh eggs up my way. I've never bought them but I might try them after I'm done with the carton I have in the fridge.
In the past 24 hours I have literally had three different people ask me if we are still going to Africa later this month. Yes, we are. And no, I'm not concerned about Ebola.
ETA: to clarify, I mean I'm not concerned about Ebola impacting us. I'm saddened for Africa but I consider it highly, highly, highly unlikely that H or I would be exposed to it on our trip.
There is a chance that our basement may be finished today. FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS after they started. I am so fucking excited to never deal with these people again!!!

I have no desire to go to Lollapalooza this weekend. H's sister bought us tickets without asking if we wanted to go because she wanted to come for the weekend. Except she's going all weekend and our tickets are for Sunday. I'm old. I have to work next week. blah.
We just went and ordered all of the supplies to do our patio. It should be delivered in about a week. I feel terribly because I am not allowed to do any strenuous activity per my doctor so DH will have to do all of it. He's been pestering me to have a patio for years and I did do all of the planning but I still feel really guilty.
