I was at a meeting yesterday with four lawyers (one of them was a co-worker). The two women lawyers had their hair parted to the side, and they both had uneven parts. Is that a hair thing nowadays?

My hair parts unevenly all on it's own. The very front parts to the side and the middle/back parts more to the middle. I hate it but do nothing to try to change it lol. I didnt realize this was a thing.
Is it a thing again? Back in the early 2000's, my old stylist used to try and part my hair in a zig zag pattern--then my hair said "the fuck?" and went back to doing whatever the hell it wanted. It looked okay in a zig zag, but I wouldn't do it as an everyday thing.

I follow the curly girl method which eschews brushing or combing your hair so my part is totally uneven. I may have brushed out my hair twice in 7 years.

I haven't heard of it as a "thing." My hair starts off neatly parted every morning, but sometime during the day I always mess it up. I probably should start checking a mirror at some point during the day because a few times I've come home and seen myself in the mirror and realized that my hair has probably been a poofy mess half the day.

Same thing here. My hair is going to do a straight part down the middle period because that is what it wants to do.
I find that if I try to force a straight part, my hair is really flat around the part and it looks bad. Whereas I have a little more volume if I just let my hair do its own thing in terms of a part -- which is usually uneven.

I think the zigzag part is supposed to create the appearance of more volume. I kind of like it, as long as it's not an "obvious" zigzag. If done right, it also hides roots that are growing out when you're in need of a color touch up.
I don't mind the look on others, but I don't like it on me. I part my hair pretty much in the same spot every day. When I get my hair cut, my sister just hands me the comb and doesn't bother trying to put the part in herself anymore.
