They have got to at least amplify it or double it or do something because that shit sounds SO fake. How can you laugh after every line? I actually saw some youtube clip a while back that removed the laughing and it was so awkward.
I know, I remember that I was surprised to hear that it was a live audience. But the laughs aren't enough for me make me stop watching, I have no shame in admitting that I love that show.

Anytime I see a show with a laugh track now, I assume it's going to not be funny. I don't need a group of people to laugh at the pauses in the script where someone THINKS a joke is funny.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

If you are in the studio audience, they tell you when to laugh. Trust me, it gets old after you've been here for 2.5 hours, watching them run through the scenes again and again. They also have an audience warm-up person, who is usually a mediocre comedian, to try to get you to warm up your laughing before the fucking 3 hour taping. I wouldn't be surprised if they loop the laughter, though, to "enhance" it.

Have you read Lullaby, by Chuck Palahniak? There's this part in there where he points out that a lot of the laugh tracks used in the 70s and 80s were the same laugh tracks that had been recorded in the 50s when TV first came out, so when you're watching Full House, it's dead people laughing at those jokes. :s
No! Makes sense, though. I knew no living sane person would think Joey Gladstone was funny.

Hey, now! That's only a 30 year age difference! Those people COULD have still been alive! Or do you mean when you watch those old 80s episodes now?
