It causes me great anxiety. I've been in some bad accidents when I was younger (not driving, in the passenger seat) and going over 70 freaks me right out. And I'm REALLY bad at parking.
And I haven't ever addressed the anxiety because I grew up in Toronto, which has a decent subway/transit system.
I actually have a driving lesson on Sunday. We are focusing on parking.
@savestheday Imma need details on the dolphin situation. Please and thank you.
I was 7 or 8 & we went down to see my great uncle & there was a small aquarium near where he lived. Anyways the main attraction was a dolphin show where the trainer let kids feed & & pet a dolphin. You had to keep your hand very still though & my dad was getting annoyed about waiting so he said " let's go get ice cream " I pulled my hand away right as the dolphin was coming to me & the dolphin thought my chubby finger was a fish and took a taste.
It hurt like hell & they stopped the petting portion because of this.
Hm. I'm sure some of you know some of this because I dont have a whole lot to share and this question has come up over the years:
-I sang backup for Shania Twain on her '98 tour
-I have 70% hearing loss in my left ear
-I was a "kid DJ" on a local kids radio station which then became Radio Disney
-I fell out of a barn loft when I was a kid and a wooden stake impaled me through the back. (good thing I wasn't a vampire, eh?)
-I trained horses through HS and college and was involved in a bad accident where I ended up under a horse and was stepped on and kicked in the head
-My freshman year of college I was stalked by a someone who lived in my dorm. The end result was that he held a knife to my throat while police officers had guns drawn. He was arrested, expelled, and convicted of various charges. There has never been contact again and he no longer lives in my state.
-I was hit by a drunk driver and was taken to the hospital via ambulance. When the hospital contacted my exH, the first thing he asked about was the car :/ My parents ended up getting to the scene right after I left in the ambulance but one of the police officers told them that I had died A different officer immediately told them that I was alive and on my way to the hospital, but OMG, can you imagine?
Ours was small-ish, but we also don't drink and only a handful of our guests typically drink alcohol.
We also had to be careful because we got married in grad school and our school was really conservative and strict--to the point where they would kick students out if it was discovered that they drank alcohol even off campus, and we didn't want to put our friends from that school in that position.
There's a lot of things that people wouldn't have assumed I've been through or experienced but I guess some interesting things are, I was in a movie as an extra and once in a blue moon I do modeling for stock photography. Last job was last year.
I've been in sports most of my life. I quit soccer 4 years ago when I was going through some fertility issues. I miss it so much though and still entertain the thought of playing again but I don't know where I'd find the time.
Something you can laugh at me about. I still shake my head--because what was I thinking! For a brief time I was a car model. Serena was already 2 years old at the time and I thought it would be fun and a quick way to make some money by doing some promotional modeling. I worked for an import shop and one stint with Firestone.
My hair was an awful shade of rust. This was 9 years ago.
I busted my head on some rocks when I was 3 and had to get over 60 stitches in my head. The dr. lost count. You can see the scar on my forehead a little.
When the neighborhood kids found out who he was, they would knock on the door and say "HALLO, McFly!!" like he did in the movie, and act like dumbasses. Drove him nuts.
Imma be honest, I'm 34 and it would be really really hard for me not to do that at least once.
I went to school for band instrument repair. They took a pic of me for their website and I ended up on one of their advertisements on the side of buses.
My exH is married to H's exGf. That still blows my mind.
I was most improved player on my 8th grade volleyball team. *preens*
I met DH and started dating him when I was 19. He wasn't actually divorced, he was separated. They lived in different states and didn't use lawyers, had two kids and kept messing up the paperwork so it dragged on forever.
