Ok, I understand. I tend to be picky about furniture I put in my house (especially tht big) because I know that once it's there I probably won't get rid of it for a looooong time. If I didn't like the style I'd pass because every time I'd look at it I would just be thinking about what I hate about it.
My parents had a beautifully made oak entertainment wall unit in their old beach house. It was very MCM and made by a high end Scandanavian design company. It's not currently "on trend", it was more of a classic- think pre-vintage.
Not sure of yours is like that. They didn't have any visible hardware. It's NMS, but they're very MCM.
I need to see the item and the room it would go in. An 80s media center sounds very bad. I see a lot of older TV armoires and such on craigslist here for so much money because it was $x new...but they're so dated.
I wouldn't take it based on all the work that would be needed to make it go with your house. Painting white, swapping out your tv stand and then you'd still be stuck with white furniture and a curved style (both of which you don't like).
I wouldn't take it. I'm still irritated my parents hauled out a giant expensive armoire to my house (12hours away) that I did not want & never used. I tried to get rid of it on CL & no takers...it's sat in the garage at one of my rentals for 5yrs now. Lol.
I kinda wanna gouge her eyes out for the crime against that dining table. The veneer work along the side was gorgeous. If she wanted a shiny white table, I'm sure she could have picked something out at Ikea when she bought the desk she inserted between the white wall unit pieces.
