Can you guys rec a good brand of skinny jeans for hippy and butt gals? I have a pair from old navy (rockstar) but they have no give and I think I need something with more stretch. I tried on a pair from a stitch fix box and they were nice but they were $75 and that seemed high but maybe that's what I've got to pay to get a good pair?
Eta: actually I really won't pay that much for skinny jeans so do you have a rec for under $75? $50 tops?
I'm jealous of all you ladies who can wear button downs. I always get the dreaded chest gap unless I buy them too big and have them tailored, and I'm too lazy for that!

This is me too! I have found that popovers (that only button up the top half) fit my chest better. I don't know if they are naturally more roomy or what the difference is.

Me three. I can't wear button downs unless I am at my lowest weight.

I stopped buying button downs a few years ago. Even when they fit initially, they'd always shrink That said, I found camisoles help. I get Assets from target.

If you're looking for jeans to wear with boots I recommend trying jeggings. I inadvertently bought black maternity jeggings last year. I went to destination maternity asking for skinny jeans. The associate brought me a pair of jeggings to try. I loved them with boots because they didn't bunch anywhere. I have always had fit issues with boots and jeans until this pair. I didn't realize they were jeggings until recently so that's the first thing I'm buying this fall. American eagle were recommended as well as a brand carried by nordstrom.

AE jeggings. They are awesome.
So I went into AE to buy my jeggings a few weeks ago and felt like I was about a million years old next to the salesgirl. Lol. On that note, I need sone new tunic/longer tops to wear with my jeggings.

I'm very tempted by the AE jeggings but I'm scared of the junior-ness of them. I've just about given up on jeans because the angle from my waist to my hips is very steep but also squishy so within 30 minutes all my jeans begin to stretch and migrate south before they settle down to create the muffin top of doom. I did buy two pairs of super awesome and thick control top leggings that go all the way to my ribs/natural waist but I'd really like a few pairs of skinny jeans/jeggings for a change.
My desperate want this year is a pair of high ankle to mid calf boots to wear with leggings for times that riding boots are a little too much look for the occasion. I'm ridiculously picky and a bit cheap so finding something that works before fall is going to be a challenge.

Don't be. They are high waisted They really worked for me and I'm nowhere near jr. sizes.

I hear you, a few months ago I walked into AE because I had heard good reviews of their jeans. I looked on the wall, and the biggest size they had in store was an 8. There may have been one lone size 14 among the acid washed jeans, though there were plenty size 2 and 0s. I saw the 16 year old sales girl heading toward me to ask if I needed help, and I bolted out of there. I don't know if I will ever manage to work up the courage to shop in that store again.
I may have blurted out "I'm sorry! I'm 30 and I don't belong here!" as I skedaddled past the poor bewildered sales girl.
I buy ae jeans online. I dislike going in the store. They don't have my size and I fell stupid in there. But I have jips and an ass and I like both their jeans and their pants. I wear an 8 there.
I may have to get a few pairs next time they have a sale since I doubt there will be anything in the store for my double digit ass to try on. How do they run size wise? I generally wear a 32/14 from most grown up brands so should I get my regular size or go up?
Another fan of AE high-waisted skinny jeans and jeggings. The stretch is accommodating of wherever you carry weight. I carry mine in my belly, and the high-waisted cut were heaven sent!

this is where I warn people to make sure they don't accidentally buy the low rise AE jeggings. I did this and I hate them as much as ON jeggings. But the medium or high rise are good.
American eagle. My postpartum stomach is a size 12 and those high waists are my best friend. I also bought a t shirt in a size large when I was in there and love the fit.
question for those that wear boots, what do you wear them with? Leggings? Skirts?
I just don't have any idea how to wear them since I'm plus size and don't wear leggings or skinny jeans...
Both. I like to wear tights in the same color as the boots under a dress. That's my winter work wardrobe. Sweater dress, tights, boots, scarf. I wear them with leggings (with stirrups! No bunching!) on weekends with an oversize sweater and a scarf. I can't be without a scarf!
