Ahhhh that's awesome!! Congratulations. You will have a blast! The time will fly by until your DH gets over there. I love London, I've visited twice and loved every moment of it.
I vacillate between feeling all <) for you and your awesome new adventure, and feeling all for me because I'm losing my RockNVoll.
But, this is SO EXCITING!!! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you prepare for your move. I will absolutely be coming for a visit!!
This is me. All of it.
ETA: Will your H come to GTGs as your representative? And what are his London job prospects like?
And most importantly, can you still take trapeze classes there???
CONGRATULATIONS! What a huge honor and a great opportunity. So many places to travel to easily from London! I know you're going to love it.
The logistics sound horrific though, I don't envy you there. Are you selling your house? Is your husband finding a new job? You don't have to answer, I'm just thinking out loud.
OMG OMG OMG! That's so exciting! London would be at the top of my lists of places to move to. We are going to miss you so much at gtgs, but I'm sure you'll make plenty of new friends.
pinkroses, yes we will likely sell our house. Before this became a reality we were casually looking for a new place anyway. But now that it might actually happen, the thought of selling this place makes me sad. DH will need to find a new job, but I'm not particularly worried about that. The good news is that spousal work visas are supposed to be relatively easy and straightforward to get in the U.K.
Awkward, someone on MMs has referred me to mrsukyankee, too. I'll definitely be getting in touch with her and UnderProtest for more advice as things really start moving.
What an amazing opportunity for you, I know you will be awesome! Sounds like one of those opportunities you just have to take advantage of. Congrats again

Thanks so much, friend. I miss you around here, btw. How are things going? How are you feeling?
Feeling pretty exhausted these days! And also feeling like I have a ton to do, buy and learn before the babies get here, we are about 3 months away from their arrival. Eeek! I'm going to the doctor twice a month and getting monthly ultrasounds, so between that and staff turnover/vacations in my office I've been pretty swamped.
I keep having to remind myself to pop over here more instead of staying just on the baby boards!
But will you get to attend the August GTG so we can all wish you well?!
CONGRATS!!!!
Thank you! And yes, I do plan on attending!
Speaking of which, bostonmichelle, did you decide which date the GTG will be?
Yes I was going to start a new thread tonight/this afternoon. It looks like August 16th was the winner. So we will go with that. I'll start the thread now.
wow! How exciting. I feel like I finally got to meet you in person and now you're leaving. :-(. Really though, so cool and a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Wow, congrats RockNVoll! That's sounds like such an awesome opportunity!! Is it planned as a permanent move or just for a few years?
That's so exciting! We visited London for the first time last year and LOVED IT!!! I'd love to go back, so we'll definitely have to plan to come visit.
I've been dying to tell you guys (and scm1011 found me out early ) but was waiting for the details to settle a bit as they seemed to change every other day. My company is transferring me to our London office where I'll be building out my function there as they don't currently have an equivalent department. It's not completely finalized yet but should be soon.
My start date is October 1 so it's happening really, really soon. I'm a little bit in denial about how much I have to do between now and then. DH is staying behind for several more months though so not everything has to be taken care of right away. It will majorly suck to be apart for a few months, but they've agreed to let me fly home every two months (or fly DH to me) until we move him out there.
I don't know anyone in London so being there by myself is a little scary. I've already looked up volleyball options so I can go meet people Gah, I'm so excited for a new adventure!
What?!?! Omg!!!! I am dying that I am just now seeing this. Congratulations. I can't wait to hear more and will totally visit. Wow!!!!!
Oh my gosh, I am so excited for you guys! And uber jealous. And bummed. I have all the feels. T will be bummed too, he still asks about hanging out and going to the dumpling place in Chinatown that you mentioned eons ago when we had lunch. we have some friends that moved to London from Boston in January. I can put you in touch with them if you like.

Hurry up and move up here before I leave so I can see you! And thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it. My H would be happy to take you guys to the dumpling place though, and he's staying behind for probably ~6 months until I get settle and we're sure it's working out at the office.
6 months??? Wow. I was thinking more like 4-6 weeks. I
Congrats! Definitely post on the IL board and connect with UKYankee. She's awesome and even spent some time in Boston when before her time as an expat I think.

I've been on holiday for the past two weeks and haven't been on the internet much. But yay!
Sports is one of the best ways to meet people...plus there are a lot of different expats over here. Definitely feel free to join our slow but steady IN board and PM me with any questions. I'm quite happy to meet up and show you stuff.
And yes, I was in Boston for two years prior. London is not too dissimilar in feel sometimes.
