Dentist says Ruby does have a high palate

When I originally panicked about this I emailed the geneticist office to see if my amnio results tested for everything it just what Violet has. She said this:

Congratulations on your baby! The amnio looked for all deletions or duplications in the chromosomes not just the deletion Violet has.

...So I should stop freaking out and looking at these horrible genetic things, right?

@beener I have that too!! I tried taking a picture, but it was super unflattering and you couldn't see anything. I have two big bumps and a valley on the bottom too. I always thought they were normal until my sil cleaned my teeth for the first time. She was like "Wow! your Tori are huge!!" It really makes biting that stupid plastic thing for dental xrays painful!

TrudyCampbell Ruby is beautiful and perfect! This is just a random thing and she is perfectly healthy. Try not to stress out too much!

Our pediatrician looked and said her palate looked normal, but the pediatric dentist said it's definitely high. She did say Ruby's mouth will change a lot within the next year as the teeth come in and it might just fix itself. If not she mentioned that we can fix it before she's around age 11/12. The dentist didn't seem worried, I'm just being a worrywart.

The dentist also said it looks like her eye teeth are going to come in first! WTF! Is that normal!? Oh my gosh, she's going to look like a vampire.

In other news, Violet somehow did great with her appointment. I was expecting much worse.

Max's lateral incisors came in first, he looked very vampiric for a while (the True Blood kind)  

Wow... that is interesting about the high palate - I would be a worrywart too but hopefully it will fix itself! Glad Violet did great! I am afraid of how Max will do at his apptmt

M has had two big teething bubbles around his top eye teeth and I thought he was going to be a vampire baby for sure, but over the weekend his bottom front tooth cut through. You never know.

I'm sorry you didn't get the news you wanted. She is beautiful, and totally okay, though. Stay away from Dr. Google, he never has anything nice to say. If the amino was clean, I'm positive she's okay!

Also, there's a lady on my FB with a vampire baby, and he is one of the cutest little squirts I've seen! Ni can't wait to see Ruby's vampy smile

How old is he? Ruby is just 4 months. I wasn't expecting teeth yet!

Just 4 months. His birthday is March 21st. My daughter got her first tooth at 3 months. My mom and MIL kept telling me it looked like she was teething. I said absolutely not. I was convinced it was way too early. It was my first sign of parental denial.

careyalis Beener Those bumps are mandibular tori. They are very common. We see it often and send patients to have them removed.
