I'm trying to find a cleaning service for the house, and just today I'm playing around with the idea of having the car interiors done - at least one anyway. Dunno if its really possible so I'm just looking around at rates at different places.
Anyone know if when you get an oil change there are places that will at least do a interior vacuuming?
In my old city there was a place that would change the oil and clean the car inside and out by hand for $40. It was awesome. So yes, those places definitely exist.
I don't have any current plans to get anything cleaned professionally, although I can definitely see the value in a deep clean before your due date.
When I first got my car I went to the dealership to do oil and they vacuumed, washed, and topped off fluids for me each time. Now H does my oil. But I know we have a lot of car washes that will do a detail on the cheaper side.
I won't hire for a professional clean but will pry have my sil and mom come over to deep clean. I've been able to keep up on house work pretty good though.
I really wanted to steam clean my rugs one more time, but with my BP issues I'm on quasi-restrictions against lifting, and it would be such a PITA to have DH keep emptying/filling the reservoir ever 10-15mins. I'm considering hiring someone, but then I have to figure out how to handle the pups... I may just say screw it.

We are having the cleaning lady come saturday to clean the house, but thats it. Its been a while since its been really clean and I want to start off right when we have the baby.
We had our carpet professionally cleaned and stretched. I just cleaned my car too but I am sure it will need to be cleaned again before the baby comes.
I'm deep cleaning myself. But, I've had plenty of time to do it myself since I've been teaching only a 2.5 hr a day summer program for 5 weeks this summer. I'm trying to do one project a day and it's been manageable.
The only thing that really needs cleaned in our house are the windows. They've been on my to do list since we bought the house 3 years ago. Whoops. We're in the process of cleaning, replacing hardware, and restaining them now.
We have hardwoods and tile throughout and generally don't wear shoes in the house (plus no pets!). Our floors don't get dirty, just dusty. I will steam mop the hardwoods once baby is becoming mobile. The tile gets steamed on a regular basis.

I had our carpets and furniture steam cleaned before DS came since they were all old and in desperate need of it.
This time around I'm considering having a cleaning lady come once or twice before and for a month or so after. I'll probably make DH steam clean before as well bc my nesting seems to kick up the cleaning crazies that are already naturally in me.
I would love to have a cleaning lady come. I will probably pay for a carwash so they vacuum and wipe things down since we've gone to the beach a lot this summer so there's sand I can't reach
We had some of the carpets deep cleaned before the baby came, but otherwise just used our regular bi-weekly cleaning service. I did get my car washed and vacuumed at a local car-wash place, but didn't get it fully detailed.
I just took my car to delta sonic for the first time. For $30 they cleaned the interior. At the end of the summer, I may do the bigger cleaning option with shampoo, etc. I think it was well worth it.
After M was born, we hired a cleaning service every 2 weeks so we have that. I didn't do anything additional to that although I considered having them so some extra "deep cleaning". I just didn't get around to deciding what I would want done, pricing it, etc
So far, I've been able to stay on top of my household chores. If that should change in the future, I would definitely hire a cleaner. I'm not too worried about it though, as it's only my husband & I (for now ) so the house stays relatively clean. What I am worried about is holiday decorating. I may put them up a week earlier than normal, and I really hope I am able to get them down after the New Year.
We are having our carpets cleaned. My dad is a carpet cleaner (has owned his own business for 25ish years)...he's planning to come out sometime in October to clean our carpets (we also try to do this at least 1x/year).
Other than that, I will probably deep clean the house in November.

We have a cleaning lady that comes every four weeks. We'll bump her up to every two weeks for the first 10-12 weeks post partum.
And yes, I will make DH steam clean our one carpeted room and possibly the rugs before d-day I don't plan on lifting a finger beyond freezer meal prep and planning for DS's care during our hospital time.
I would LOVE to have a cleaning person come though, but we have two cats and a dog in our little cape cod (it was a Brady Bunch of pets when we got married) so the most that it stays clean is maybe a day. Hair everywhere.
I'm going to just do a deep clean myself before but maybe have someone come through while I'm at the hospital so it's not a total fuzzy disaster when I return, since I won't be here to keep on top of it AND I'm sure I won't want to vacuum and mop right away.

No, but we are planning to get 90% of the carpet in our house replaced with hardwoods before the baby arrives. And hopefully all the doors and woodwork too. Does that count? We spent yesterday ripping up carpet and removing a wall that needed to go before getting the new floors installed.
I'm kind of freaking out now. There's still some electrical and structural work we need to do before the new floors, and a crap ton of furniture to move out of the affected rooms.
I'm due in less than 3 months, though ideally the floors go in while DH and I are traveling 1 month from now (we're hiring out that part, along with the doors and woodwork, but plan to DIY the rest). It's gonna be awesome when it's done though.

Oh man, my house is currently in construction mode. With the AC going in and the baby's room being literally gutted to studs and rebuilt everything is a mess. Our house is tiny so there are piles of furniture and stuff everywhere that I have to walk/climb around. Our house looks like hoarders b/c nothing is in closets. We currently have TWO sets of bedroom furniture in our bedroom b/c the sale of one set on craigslist fell through 15 minutes before they were suppose to pick it up.
Drywall, sanding, painting, and carpet removal/installation still needs to be done all while H works an hour away and I have to prep for school starting in two weeks (as does H).
I agree, when things are done it will be awesome, but I've got some serious anxiety right now being here with this mess! Trying to clean is impossible!
we have a cleaning person now, who comes every other week. she's scheduled to clean the day before my due date, so we'll see when i actually have this baby!
i just talked to H about having the carpets cleaned. not urgently or before the baby comes, necessarily though. we're going to watch for groupons and grab one if we see it. (the house is only two years old, though, so i'm not too worried about funk in the carpets).
we finally decided to keep my car (it's 4 years old and paid for, so we were waffling about trading in or riding it out - with daycare for two, i decided against a car payment!) so we're having a bunch of regular maintenance done on it, and H wants to get it full-on detailed. that's another groupon we're hunting!
