The Magician's Land by Lev Grossman. I'm really enjoying it. It's the third in a trilogy and I can't rememberer details of the first and second, but that hasn't been too much of a problem.
So yeah, back to my Jodi Picoult novel today. Hopefully it's about sunshine and rainbows, or finding sunshine and rainbows. I need something now to take my mind away and it's too early for a glass of wine
I haven't read it, but miscarriage and infertility are a huge focus in that one, just FYI. And big hugs to you -- maybe chocolate until wine time?
ETA Goodreads tells me that I did read it in 2011, so apparently I just don't remember it at all.
I have 1 more chapter in the Guns of August, so I WILL finish today. I need something pretty easy and quick to read next. I have these ready to go on my kindle and I will take votes:
Ender's Game The Light in Ruins Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Book Store Ready Player One

I've only read Mr. Penumbra but I absolutely love that book. The cover glows in the dark, but probably not so much on the kindle.
I am trying to finish The Golem and the Jinni on audiobook since my library loan expires in 10 hours (53 min to go!). I need to pick shorter audiobooks. Or buy them.
I'm also back to reading An Echo in the Bone now that I'm back in town. I wasn't going to carry that monster on the airplane!
ETA - I forgot to answer the question. I like both of them. I think maybe I should have read a book version of Golem since I think I missed a fair amount in the audiobook. Echo is a re-read to remind myself what happened before I read the last book in the series.

I've only read Ender's Game. Besides my guilt over realizing (after the fact) that I had purchased a book from such a bigot, I enjoyed the story.

I don't feel AS bad because it's a library book, but I will say that it might affect my enjoyment of the book.

I've read Penumbra and Ready Player One... both easy reads. I didn't like either significantly more, so I'd choose based on whether you want modern or 80s.

Finished Isla and the Happily Ever After last night, DD was at her ABA all day preschool yesterday so I just read all day between dropping her off and picking her up and again after she was in bed. It was really good a solid 4 stars for me. Back to reading We Two..., a historical non-fiction about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert which is really interesting and well done if you are into non-fiction history and the time period/royals

I've read Ready Player One and The Light in the Ruins. I would vote for Ready Player One - I loved it. I don't think The Light in the Ruins was my favorite Chris Bohjalian book.

Charlati mentioned enjoying the Donna Andrews mystery "Murder with Peacocks" a few weeks back, so I checked it out. I finally started it last night and I'm really enjoying it a lot. Have already recommended it to "the moms" (i.e., my mother and stepmother, both mystery fans).

I read this in 2012 but I remember it does have a big focus on that in the beginning. Later in the book it moves on to other things, but still pretty sensitive topics. I remember feeling really emotional reading it but it was a great read.
I finished Morning Glory by Sarah Jio this morning. It was #29 for the year. I liked it. I'm also re-reading HP and the Sorcerer's Stone. I've never read two books at once before so I'm trying out a re-read of the series while reading other books.
I leave for the beach this weekend and I have.no.idea. what books to bring with me. *-) <-- This is me staring at my shelves trying to decide ha.

I'm a bit late as I've been offline for the last couple of days -- it's Saturday evening here now -- but I'm reading Ringing in Murder as part of my effort to finish off Kate Kingsbury's Pennyfoot Hotel series. I'm enjoying it fairly well. The characters are good friends, but I'm not really sure where they're all going in this episode. And I really thought I would be the time I got to Chapter 11.
I had plenty of down time yesterday so I read Anastasia at This Address and Tea with Emma on my Kindle. I enjoyed both. I'm always a bit disappointed with novellas, because just when I really get into the story it's over, but for a Kindle Freebie it was well worth it.

I'm reading this as well. It was my intention to start it but when I found out it had been released I just started reading.
I'm not sure where to ask this, so please let me know if this isn't the right place. Has anyone read Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed? It looks like a good book and I think the movie is being made right now with Reese Witherspoon.
feel free to make a new thread. It might get lost here.
I'm reading Orange is the New Black. It's due back at the library tomorrow, and I'm only 25% through, so I will have to renew it. I'm enjoying it so far. It makes me wonder how I would manage, being thrown into prison.
I was reading Wintergirls (since finished) on Friday. The topic was dark but it was an interesting look into the life of someone with anorexia. I worry about the body image issue and my teen.
Also reading A Dance with Dragons. I hit a milestone and actually made it halfway! I'm wondering if there will be any action. So far nothing exciting has happened.
