I was going to install the car seat around Week 35 or 36 I guess?
As far as washing...I'm not sure. We don't really have much for clothes yet, I don't really know how much to buy. We're not having a shower, but I also don't know how much family/friends will randomly buy us either!

You should probably wait on clothes a bit. Wash newborn and maybe 0-3 but nothing else as you don't know how big or little your baby will be and if the seasons will work out correctly.
We put our carseat base in at 37 weeks. It took all of 5 minutes.
I've been washing our clothes over the last couple of weeks, so starting around 35 weeks. We are planning to install the car seat base this weekend, at almost 38 weeks. I definitely feel behind!
I'm planning to wash all of the gender neutral stuff and get the car seat, swing, etc ready this weekend. DS was born at 36.5 weeks so I want to be prepared just in case.
I may buy a few gender neutral oneies and sleepers and wash those but since I am not sure if I am having a girl or boy I won't have to do any laundry. hahahah
We installed the car seat in the cab on the way home from the hospital. DH watched a couple of YouTube videos for a refresher earlier that day before going to get me.

I washed the clothes this week but I think it was a little early to do so. Car seat will probably be installed by early September, so I'll be 35 weeks.
I've washed all of her hand me downs but anything with tags on it is staying unwashed until she is here and I have an idea of what will fit/be seasonally appropriate.
We are going to a car seat installation clinic tomorrow so we'll have the base installed then.
Clothes were washed in the mid 30s when we got the furniture in the nursery. Car seat is still not in, but now since I'm a scheduled c section, H has declared he's just going to do it a night or two before. I can't see it taking more than a few minutes, right? They'll check before we leave the hospital to make sure it's installed properly, so I'm not really worried.
Clothes are washed. Car seat installation is on 8-28. That was the soonest the highway patrol could install it. I learned different states have different place certified.
I'm almost 32 weeks and only have crib sheets and the boppy covers washed. I dug out the bucket seat and really have to wash it. DS starts preschool Monday so I plan on tackling lots of things soon.
I started washing clothes/wraps/blankets, etc a little bit at a time starting from 28 weeks or so. DH doesn't want to install the car seat until a few days before my due date. His kids stay with us every other weekend and once the car seat is in there won't be enough room for all 6 of us in the car. I would like to install it now because DS came at 37 weeks (which I will be next Wednesday) and I want to be prepared in case this one comes early too. I'm letting DH get his way. It just means that he will have to move DS's car seat over and install the baby seat by himself while I'm in hospital if the baby comes early.
DH put his car seat base in last week, so 35 weeks. Mine WAS in, but we had to take it out to fit the glider in my hatchback, lol.
Is NOT washing the clothes really bad? I sort of hadn't planned on it. Parent slacking from the start!
I've noticed that baby clothes tend to shrink a little, that's the only reason I washed anything ahead of time for DS2. With DS1 I washed everything because I figured I was supposed to. He ended up not wearing a bunch of stuff because I had so.many.clothes and then I couldn't return anything because I'd washed it already. Lesson learned!
I'm washing clothing as I get it. I only have newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 stuff right now. I'm expecting a big box of hand me downs soon, though and I'll probably wash all of that and stash them away somewhere right away.
I'll install the car seat as soon as I get it. MIL bought it but we won't have it until my shower so I guess it'll get installed around 34 -35 weeks.
Question about returning clothing - how long do places usually give you to return stuff? I know it depends on the store, but my mom just bought about 10 9-month summer outfits for DD to wear next summer. If she's not wearing that size then, I'm assuming it'll be too late to return, right? So I might as well wash them?

Where I live, it even varies by county. The county in which I live has installations/checks about 1x every 7-10 days, mostly on weekends, and publishes the locations online quarterly. You can also make appointments at the county admin building one day/week. The county in which I work, which is one county north of where I live (and usually more convenient than where I live) has installations/checks only 4 HOURS per MONTH (a late afternoon/early evening in the middle of the week) at one firehouse.

Please wash your baby's clothes and bedding. My FIL used to work in a place that made the thread to make the material to make the clothes. The amount of chemicals and dyes that go into them is scary. DH's family will never wear anything without washing it first. Also you don't know how clean the factories were where the clothes were made, how many people coughed or sneezed on them during manufacturing, how long or how they were stored and then transported, and finally how many boogers the people (customers) in the shops had on their hands when looking at the clothes before you.
Don't wash everything so some stuff can it be returned if necessary, but at least wash what your baby will wear.
36 weeks? We don't have a lot to do for this baby (#3). We don't install a base for the car seat, baby will sleep in our room either in a bassinet or bedshare. I've got a breastfeeding pillow and bouncer from last time. Should be good to go.
we're going to move C's seat (and reinstall using the belt vs latch) and install the bases on labor day weekend, so between 35-36 weeks.
for the clothes, i just pulled all of the neutral stuff from C out and put it in this kids dresser. i have purchased maybe 4 additional outfits/sleepers. i'm not rewashing or prewashing any of it. if i notice the baby has an skin reactions, i'll wash it all then.
blankets still get some use from C, and have been in dresser drawers, so those are good. i'll wash the crib sheets before the baby is born. i am also going to wash the car sear liner/padding. the clothes were all in tubs/bags, but the car seat has been sitting out in the basement for three years. that's about it!
Clothes will be washed as soon as we have a dresser to put them in. Hopefully by 38 weeks (we are having some renovation issues.).
Truthfully car sear will be installed the day baby comes home from hospital. Once you figure it out once it's really no big deal. Plus my oldest DD will move to the 3rd row so I don't want to move her early.

we have to buy a new car first... well and two new carseats too I guess! cause they won't fit in my Jetta, especially with DD's booster! But I am 17.5 weeks. I would like to get the car next month. October at the latest. I will likely put in the car seats by mid-december. If I go before then, they will likely be in the NICU briefly anyway so we will have time to install the carseats.
Our one and only baby shower will be right before I am 28 weeks. I'll start washing clothes and diapers then (the natural fiber prefolds take 3 washings). It will be a scheduled c-section so we can just install the carseat bases the weekend before. We are both pros at car seat installation, so I'm not going to have it checked.
we don't even own a car yet, and probably won't until we move and i'm about 7-8 months along. so...i've basically done nothing and am not planning to do much at all until i'm at least 30 weeks. then it will just be whirlwind activity.
