We had our third and final baby shower this weekend so I'm feeling pretty prepared!
Everyone is convinced that Baby Charky is huge and will come early... so I'm trying to mentally prepare to go 2 weeks late.
thatgirl2478 I picked up a few nursing tops NWT on ebay, but the general recommendation on MMM seems to be just wear nursing tanks under regular tops, so I also picked up a few of the much-loved Bravado tanks.
That was my plan - nursing tanks under regular tops - and the Bravado tanks look SO nice, but I'm having a really hard time justifying the $50 price tag on each top when I SAH...
thatgirl2478 I really liked the Pea in a Pod nursing tanks at Motherhood Maternity. I wore one every day under a regular shirt or cardigan for 18 months and didn't have any issues. They are pricey but they usually do a buy 3 get 1 free sale and I've also been able to combine with a coupon before. I had a difficult time getting a comfortable fit with Bravado.
I broke down and bought a maternity support belt yesterday at the recommendation of someone on MMM and it has a slot for a hot/cold pack that hits your lower back and it is HEAVENLY.
Do you know what is really difficult? Driving in traffic that is neither moving nor properly standing still when you having really painful Braxton hicks and your 6 year wants to discuss the differences between peppermint and spearmint.

I'm headed to the hospital this afternoon to have an ultrasound on my left calf....pregnancy + two international flights this last week have me worried that it's a DVT, so better to play it safe and get it checked out. Not red or swollen, but the tenderness is definitely pin-pointed to one area on the inside of my calf.
I've been trying to find decent, but inexpensive, nursing tops for the past few days, but I'm not having any luck. The ones I like at H&M and Target are sold out and the other ones I like are $50 each (!). Grrr
I really like the pull down style tanks Motherhood has. I think they're around $20 so not too bad.
Have you looked into the Tami tanks at Old Navy? They have a maternity version and a non-maternity version. I tried both versions on the other day at almost 38 weeks and could have purchased either one. They're not nursing tanks but have a super stretchy neckline you could pull down and seem like they'd work fine for nursing. The best part: only $8! I think I'm going to pick up a bunch since I don't want to fuss with the clip down style tank and the clip down bra too.
Hugs @estrellita. I'm sure everything is fine but try to take it easy and elevate your feet if you can. Sorry about the dog FastHands
- Random 1: We are now in single digit days until baby BlueMoon arrives. I had a quick u/s at my OB appt this morning to confirm baby is still breech, even though I was positive she was. I could easily draw a circle around the outline of her head in my belly. It's so prominent under my left ribs and bulges out all the time- very weird to see and feel all the time. But the doc that's doing my c section walked me through the procedure today so I'm a *little* less apprehensive. Also, H's boss keeps telling him to take as much time as he needs so I think he's going to request a few extra days home with us.
- Random 2: My SIL is flying from the west coast to our closest major city for work in a couple weeks. Originally, we were super bummed she wasn't going to be able to meet the baby until Christmas but now it's looking like she'll be able to squeeze in some baby cuddles in between her work.
- Random 3: Family pictures are scheduled for right around baby's 1 month. I kept tearing up hearing H talking to the photographer about what we wanted saying "my daughter."

A first time C section can be intimidating, that's for sure, but if you remember to get up and walk a bit early on and stay on top of your pain meds, you'll be fine!
One tip - for those first few weeks find a small pillow (like a couch throw pillow or similar) that you can use to support your abdomen when you sneeze/cough/laugh and even when you stand up. It helps a lot!

Thanks! I'll have to check those out. I wasn't thrilled at the idea of the pull down style, but it might work.

Thanks Blue Moon. I'm taking the elevator and trying to just relax in between going to the bathroom hourly to check on things, lol. It did lighten up more but it's still there. Still just brown, and still no major cramps. Is it possible for the little baby to kick the placenta and make it bleed just a little? I'm 13 weeks for reference for anyone that can't see my siggy.

I had some spotting in my first pregnancy just past 20 weeks, the attending at the ER said that it was like a nose bleed, but in my cervix. So yes. i do believe that silly little things like that can cause some concern! I would take it being brown as a good sign.
I think I am going to blow up like a balloon. All I want is carbs and I want them ALL THE TIME. I eat carbs like every 90 minutes. My pants are already tighter in the butt. I am not even eight weeks.
um....my nipples are bigger. wtf. i'm only 17 weeks. is this supposed to happen this early? does this go away after birth? i'm oanicking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was in the bathroom today and was going to weigh myself (ugh, another story), so natch i go naked. i turn around, catch a glimpse of my breast and just freaked out screaming "omg, my nipples are bigger, my nipples are bigger." i can see a full outer circle that's a bit lighter than my regular nipple and clearly is new. it's like another ring of bark on a tree.
and DH is not helpful about at all. "this is supposed to happen, it's fine. you're too obsessed with your body, relax." i know he means well, but no. i don't want giant scary nipples. i don't want to be gaining weight as fast as i apparently am. argh.
Mine were bigger and much much darker at 17 weeks. *whine*
We had our NT scan this morning. Everything looked normal! Waiting a few days for blood results. Baby was squirmy, which I wasn't expecting happened this early. The tech said it was sucking its thumb. I was like "they do that this early? why?" and she said they just do it for comfort. Cue me thinking "why does it need comforting? is it okay? what am I doing wrong?!?"
Then I asked the doc if it was sucking it's thumb and he was like, "nah, probably just hitting itself in the face." Nice reassurance, doc.
Every US I've had, baby's hands are all up in it's face!

Hi- me again. Just got back from hospital and ultrasound....there is not clot, thank goodness. However, now that I feel a little numbness in my leg, I'm curious what could be going on if it's not a DVT. I have my 24 week appt this Thursday so hopefully I'll get more answers.

I hadn't seen your earlier post until now, but I wanted to tell you that I had some weird pain develop in my ankle/inner calf sometime in second tri, and was worried about DVT as well after it got swollen after a flight. An ultrasound ruled out a clot, but the doctor said I had "sluggish flow." My doctors just attributed it to extra pregnancy fluid, and my hope is that it will go away after delivery. It doesn't really bother me too much anymore, but I don't wear anything tight on that foot because it causes a shooting pain up the side of my calf. I sometimes wear compression hose if I know I'm going to be sitting a lot, but otherwise I just try to elevate and walk as much as possible. I hope yours turns out to be nothing, but I know it is frustrating to not really have any answers.

Thanks for chiming in! Now I'm wondering about a pinched nerve...who knows. At least they ruled out the life threatening stuff. I've got compression socks that I probably should wear more often. Glad you're not bothered too much anymore!
I need to add another random because this isn't worthy of it's own thread but I need to get it out. So my dad and I don't talk. There's a history of reasons, but it all kind of exploded in 2010 and we haven't really spoken since. I've seen him at a couple family events and said 'hi' and such. And he's texted me on my birthday and holidays, and that's pretty much it.
Well, I feel like I *have* to tell him I'm pregnant before it gets around in his family and he hears from another relative. So I just sent him a short email letting him know. I just feel so awkward and sad about the whole thing.
And of course, 2 minutes after I hit 'send' he calls me. I let it go to voicemail and haven't listened yet.
UGGGGH.
Ugh, I'm sorry about this.
I have had a very strained relationship with my dad since I was a kid. I've seen him 4 times in the last 8 years. I have no intention of telling him, but every intention of telling my aunts. I'm guessing it will get around to him eventually.
