I'm genuinely curious: is Apple's "word" that she made purchases enough to actually charge her with theft? Or does it need to actually be found in her possession? I might have missed something where you explained all of this.
In any case, I'll check back this afternoon for updates.
I talked to Apple to make sure that there was no way that she could be currently using it. It seems that she made some purchases on the iPad that morning, and that's why it "backed it up". Apple guys were all "Really? This is really interesting. This person is also extremely stupid"
So, she probably did throw out the iPad. I'm just hoping that she will get the smack down today because it proves that she had my iPad. And I know Hot Cop was pissed that she lied to him, so I hope it's enough for an arrest warrant, even if the iPad is still missing.
I'm confused - if she made a purchase on it this morning, how do you get from that to "she probably did throw out the iPad?"
This is great stuff by the way. I love technology and stupid criminals.

She said that morning. I understand it as the morning bitchface took the ipad.

This story just keeps getting better. Apparently this chick has never heard that when you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
My mind is blown, how do you sit there and deny it? It could have been so freaking easy for her to be like "Yeah, I grabbed it and put it in this obscure drawer, whoops..." and just let it go. But no, she is literally caught red handed and she is still like "No, sorry, I'm a lying liar that lies"
Listen, I've had people on video in very specific clothing that nobody else in the area was wearing at the time, with a bunch of witnesses saying "yeah he did it" and the stolen stuff in their hand and they still tell me THEY DIDN'T DO IT.
This is not uncommon. As a matter of fact, I think that when evidence is overwhelming, people I've dealt with were more likely to say they didn't do it.
"These aren't my pants" is a common statement. Seriously.

That might be one of the best things I've ever read on these boards. LOL!
It doesn't surprise me that the kind of person who would steal something is the same kind of person who would lie and say they didn't. Believe it or not, some people just lie about stuff and don't see anything wrong with it, and can't process the idea that it's better to tell the truth when you're already in deep shit.
Eta: I am WAY invested in this story. Lots of updates please!!

I haven't commented yet but have followed your story. You are diligent, and I love it. This crazy girl needs to get what is coming to her! And hot cop is all about this too. Can't wait to hear what happens next!
