I've been trying to decide wtf to do with the diamond in my engagement ring. Selling it would be a shame since resale price is always such crap. Maybe I'll exchange for diamond earrings? I know the jeweler has a diamond upgrade program, so I'm pretty certain if I pay a few hundred bucks toward earrings I can upgrade one diamond to two earrings.
I'm eyeing these. Center stones are 2.08 carat tw, G color, Si2 clarity . Then the halos are small, like .17 carat, G color. I can always upgrade again in the future if I want to do bigger or higher quality. WWS&BD?

They're very pretty. If it makes sense, I had an old e-ring put into a pendant. I still wear it regularly and like that I have another nice diamond piece.
Just a random suggestion but if you have a son you could save it to give to him to give to his future wife. My engagement ring originated that way so that's why I have that bias. Otherwise, I like the earring idea.

Whats the grade setting inclusion on the SI2 diamonds? They typically look like crap when they are that low of quality and larger than .50 cts. If the grade setting inclusioln (its the first characteristic listed in the key) is Cloud or Twinning Wisp....DO NOT BUY THEM! They will look like crackle glass.

Thanks! SI2 is definitely the lowest clarity that I'll go. I just googled those inclusions to familiarize myself. I definitely want them to be eye clean.
This pair is SI quality. I'll look at a number of options. I might also go with plain studs without a halo.
Another vote for a pendant, since that's what I'm looking to do with a diamond in a ring I don't wear.
And so, I'll ask for advice: I'm looking for something similar to Tiffany's "Diamonds by the Yard" pendant. Since I haven't been in a jewelry store since I got my e-ring polished before the wedding, can anyone tell me if a local jewelry store would have such a setting available? (Places like Blue Nile won't sell the pendant separate from the diamond.)

Oh, for sure. That's a bezel set pendant. Any good jewelry store should be able to do this with your stone.
