I'm really upset right now. The owner of our favorite restaurant was arrested last night for violently beating his wife. The police write up sounds horrific for her. She just had a baby last week and ran several miles with the baby to escape him.
OMG.
I think you can help her by having her POS husband killed. Just a suggestion.

I need to do something to help her that won't land me in jail :-)
I think a fund is going to be set up for her through the local DV shelter.

I hope so. I don't mean to imply that there is ever a "good" time to be beaten, but to have it happen so soon after giving birth is particularly horrifying.

LOL!! I'm actually kind of astonished that more people think boxing is a sport than swimming.
And where are basketball and football? Are those filed under "we didn't ask because OF COURSE it's a sport"?
I had the same thoughts. And yes, I'm assuming that basketball and football were left out because "duh" but I'm annoyed that of the equestrian sports only racing made the list. Screw that man.

Let's just save ourselves fifteen posts and dismiss this chart for the obvious bias of the questioner.
Commentary from the linked website that posted the chart in the first place: Football, basketball, baseball, hockey. We know these are sports, there's no doubting it -- but what about some more fringe activities we don't talk about all the time? Reddit took a poll of people to find out their opinions on whether certain things were sports, now there's a graph that helps us see what are sports, and which are pretenders.
There are some interesting results by opening this up to a public poll.
•67 percent of respondents say Formula 1 racing is a sport, but that drops to 59 percent for NASCAR. •Ultimate Frisbee is considered more of a sport than six sports that are eligible at the Olympic or Winter Olympic games. •75 percent of people say Jai Alai is a sport, which means 25 percent of people don't know what Jai Alai is. Definitely a sport. •More people think bowling is a sport than rock climbing. •Sorry poker.
so yeah, everything on this list is a "fringe activity" And of course bowling is more of a sport than rock climbing. Level of physical effort is not a the sole indicator of sport. Why is that notable? And how did poker even make the list?
WE WILL HAVE THOSE 15 POSTS WHETHER YOU WANT THEM OR NOT.
MINT just told me that over the past 30 days I have spent $759 on personal care. Which means I have spent that much on hair, eyebrow waxing, manicures and pedicures in 30 days!!
My province just released a new license plate design for next year. This means that everyone has to get new plates including new numbers. I like my current license plate numbers and I have them memorized, I don't want to have to memorize new ones *stomping my feet*

Racing is tough, but I'd argue that 3 day eventing is the toughest of the horse sports. I was cracking up when the IOC was so surprised at how fit the eventers were when they did the athlete testing.
I think you could easily make the argument that 3 day eventing is the toughest from a lot of perspectives. It's just such a wide skill set for one pair to have. As for riders being in shape - dude, the quickest way to take the Sport/Nonsport discussion from a friendly debate to FUCK YOU for me is to pull out the "well it's not even work for the human. You're just sitting there."
Makes me want to throw that person on a horse and take them out and make them post till they cry. YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

My personal sport/not sport line is "am I better at this when I'm drinking." So all of the tavern arts (bowling, darts, pool, foosball) fall into not sport to me.
I'm on the phone with a law firm that does nothing but disability claims. they have NO IDEA where I am calling from. Its like they are just confused. "you're with who?" yeah you jackasses want me to remand this thing?? GET ME THE ATTORNEY OF RECORD. I've been transferred three times now.
And people say the government is full of red tape.
Is fantasy football a sport? Because my league commissioner sent us our all time and past three season rankings and you're looking at Tier 1, All Time and Tier 1 (first place actually), 2011-2013 seasons.
Have I mentioned I'm in a league with all men? Women are superior, it is KNOWN.

I'm trying to understand how this goes down. They do nothing but submit paperwork to you people all day - did they think you weren't real? Is this like if I got a call from somebody claiming to be from the north pole after I sent my wishlist to santa?

Nope, sorry. It could be classified as either game or contest, but not sport. *gavel*

Well they keep asking me if I'm from the state agency that does this. Nope. I just dont think the peopel who answer the phones are super familiar with my particular component but HOW HARD CAN THIS BE. I am trying to help you.
Dont be pissy and go to federal court when I deny your claim.
Their "hold music" is a lesson in how to get paid which is just cracking me up.

I've done this!! I'm with you in this 100%. It makes me irrationally ragey. I was so so fit when I was competing.
Yeah, add in the slinging of hay bales and shoveling of shit and equestrian activities become a really effective full body workout. I had a six pack when I was riding in high school. Though I'd still classify dressage as Not A Sport. (athletic activity - yes. Contest - yes. Sport - eehhhh. I have a hard time with anything that includes subjective judging criteria. See also: gymnastics.)
