This is what I'm confused about. On what scale do I need to be consistent? Like one serving a day? So if I'm not going to eat spinach/kale/etc. daily, should I skip it altogether? cc: womet
Try to eat around the same amount each day. You'll be surprised how much Vit K is in lettuce. I would print off the pdf from the website I linked to, and just try to be aware of how much you are eating. Don't stress about it too much though.

Did you cut lettuce out of your diet, too? Eek...
First, my PEs nearly killed me. Your clot was found really early and before it became a bigger problem. At first, I just ate normally. And then I started having trouble keeping my INR in the therapeutic range, so I started cutting out green things. And it didn't help. For some reason, my body just metabolized the coumadin at a ridiculously fast rate. By the time my 7 months were up, I really only ate lettuce on sandwiches. But my situation is not the norm. IF you normally eat salad with dinner, then continue to do that. Your coumadin can be increased if your levels drop. Right now, it's more important that you eat well for your son.

Thanks. I didn't know how serious things really were until I got out of the hospital. One last thing before I start getting ready for tomorrow... getting your INR checked is really easy. It's a finger prick just like they do with diabetics. Easy peasy.
