So mainly for Pom, but I'll take any other opinions. Here is the duvet cover I bought, along with new headboard fabric and pillowcases. The duvet and pillows are actually grey seersucker. I kind of liked the blue seersucker better, but the curtains are grey (and unchangeable since its a rental house).
What do you think? I have extra headboard fabric that I may try to fashion into some accent pillows.
I love seersucker, so thumbs up from me! I think accent pillows would be awesome. Your headboard is very cool. Love your little man, what a handsome dude

Thanks Pom! Its actually a very ugly stock fabric headboard. I frantically found some fabric at the store that coordinated with the seersucker and plan to recover the headboard if it actually looked okay together.
The boy can stay today. Yesterday I would have sent him to you at the slightest offer. Although he was just released from time out when he photobombed.

Hhhhmmm, RockNVoll, I might have to get the blue and see if I like it better.
I doubt we will hang anything over the bed. We haven't had much luck getting nails into the walls here and we have already had a picture fall after being hung with command hooks. That's not a place I want to risk it.
I like it, but it looks a little bland now. You just need to accessorize it. Add pillows with color to match, add a coverlet or blanket folded at the foot of the bed.
Then once you add in artwork, lamps etc. It'll look really pulled together.
You definitely need more color. But can you post a larger photo? I can barely see the pattern in the headboard, let alone the bedding. It might not look as monochromatic in person or when detail is visible.
Yes, add a shit ton of command hooks to your list (they aren't cheap here). I hope you get lucky and have walls that you can actually hang stuff though. Its a pain.
Yeah, so you overestimate my green thumb/ underestimate my black thumb. Plus, with two incredibly mischievous toddlers and a klutzy husband, plants aren't the best idea. I do agree that it needs something. Any other non-fatal suggestions?

I do usually have a cream blanket that is on the end of the bed, but that seems boring. Any color suggestion?
I don't want to do a full picture because I've already had a picture fall off the wall. Any suggestions on a less life endangering item for the wall?
Much better, thanks! I definitely think you need more color. I would look for something that picks up one of the colors in the headboard fabric.
Are you planning on painting the walls? A pale blue, a shade or two lighter than the lighter blue in the flowers, would be such a pretty wall color. And then neutral linens would work much better.

I would take a color from the headboard fabric and use that. I think it'll look pretty together.
What about hanging a frameless canvas piece? Those are pretty light and should stay up easier than something heavier with a frame.

Hhhmmmm, back to the store then? The headboard fabric actually works with my current duvet, but my current duvet is shredded. Replacing that is what started this whole thing.
I'm not painting the walls. Its a rental and I don't want to deal with it.

I do have a pretty big Ikea print like that. Its currently over the fireplace in the bedroom since we couldn't nail into that wall either. I'll start searching for something like that again. Looking at the wall, it is bare.....we just never look at the wall. The entrance door is the door you see on the left of the bed and my son was coming from the bathroom which is also on that side of the room.

What about a lavender/blue blanket and some accent pillows with the headboard fabric and them some solid colored in the same lavender/blues? A pop of color would make it look more "finished". I still like the new duvet and I get not wanting to paint.

Does anyone think that the blue seersucker would be any better? I hesitated getting the blue because the curtains are a dove gray and I didn't feel like it would coordinate.
I was trying to get something not entirely feminine as my husband does occasionally get an opinion on decorating our house.
I do like the blue duvet, and like it more than the grey, and think it probably looks better in person than translates in the pic. But I'd get something bolder and more colorful, like a deep blue, for a throw for the end of the bed.
While I do agree with others that a brighter shade of blue will look nice, I do tend to gravitate toward quieter palettes myself, so I think the original duvet in blue would be a good choice and after accessories it will look anything other than bland.
Here's a couple of rooms I've pinned with a similar muted color palette, that I think still work nicely because of the textures, subtle patterns and accessories used:
I was looking for SOMEthing with a pattern. The seersucker was the best I could do. I have a tendency to always do solid fabrics and I was trying to get away from that considering I can't paint the walls.
tiffany81 or anyone. Can you find anything you think would work better? I'm a horrible online shopper. But it has to be available to ship to the UK and a true queen size duvet (not a full/queen combo). That has severely limited my search, hence the boring seersucker.
UnderProtest I was just trying to show something that had cream, gray and pale blue and how it worked without looking boring, but I know what you mean. I have the same fears now. I'm still living in la la land. Don't ruin my decorating dream!
In all seriousness though, if you're worried about the toddlers perhaps a print would probably be a better choice. I do still like the original blue duvet though.

sa It looks amazing and I would love to have that serene of a house. I'm just trying to be a bit practical.
I didn't find any bold patterns that I liked. Well, other than the really girly one I posted a couple weeks ago (and that my husband vetoed). So maybe the blue seersucker and a bolder throw?
