At least that is what my friend calls them. Feel free to ignore but I just need to vent/de-stress.
This summer has been SUPER busy so I feel like I'm having no time to just relax and have lazy summer days. During the week we have work/soccer/piano and on the weekends we're either out of town or have guests. But today almost sent me over the top.
H and I are running Hood to Coast this weekend (I'm team captain). His parents flew in from New Jersey to watch the kids while we do the race, which is extremely nice of them (although we paid for the tickets). They just aren't very interactive with the kids, and don't help out with the house, so while it should reduce our work load it actually increases it. They're also VERY conservative and constantly make small uneducated political comments. Well yesterday they got up at 4:30am and weren't quiet. All of a sudden I hear the dog food bowls, and for some reason FIL took it upon himself to feed the dogs. He had no idea of the quantity or how to administer the meds they need. Then in the afternoon he decided to clean the grill. With the jet setting on our hose. We now have grease and charred bits all over our deck.
Today woke up and P seemed really off. He ate a great breakfast but had way less energy than normal. I sent him back to bed and he fell asleep. I didn't have my work computer at home so I had to drive to Tacoma for at least the morning, and H had to go to work too. Great, the inlaws are there, but they were not that interested in staying home with P (my MIL wants to go shopping).
Then I get a text from my brother who is flying in tomorrow for the race. He's sick. Like can't get out of bed sick. He said he doesn't want a back up, and will crawl the race if he has to, but it is still stressing me out.
THEN I get in my car to head to work and about 1/4 of the way there the engine light comes on. In any other car I'd probably just go with it and not worry about it for that one commute, but with the problems this car has had I wouldn't be surprised if it spontaneously combusted. So I had to turn around and go home to get my parents car (that they thankfully left with us while they're gone for a few months).
So now I'm at work, but I think I'm going to head home and take a half sick day. If only I could crawl back into bed myself.
I'm sorry IBD!! That is a lot to be dealing with I think you should take half a sick day, go check yourself into a spa and not tell anyone.
Also, not to be a total downer, but your brother should be careful starting H2C if he is under the weather. We had friends on an ultra team at Ragnar and one of the guys was feeling under the weather when they started. He pushed through but got super sick in the process and ended up in the hospital at the end. Hopefully the weather will be cooler than day 1 of Ragnar was (and granted an ultra is harder) but just make sure he is hydrated and careful. Hope he gets totally better in time for the race!

Thanks for letting me gripe. I'm home and feeling better. P slept until noon(!) but doesn't have a fever and is eating normally. I think he must have just been exhausted. My brother texted me and said he's feeling better and even went for a 4-mile run, which I scolded him for
mkate710 that is scary about your friend! Last year for HTC we had someone who thought he may have pneumonia the weekend prior, but ended up being fine for the race. My SIL and niece are running too (and flying in) so now I'm just hoping they don't get whatever my brother has.
