All four of us are going to be sharing a room on an upcoming long weekend "vacation." At home, DD and DS sleep in their own rooms so they are not accustomed to room sharing.
Any tips for putting an infant and a 3 year old down? They normally both go to bed around the same time. DD gets a book and a song and DS nurses to sleep. Who would you put down first?
Whoever is easier. I can pretty much just throw DD in her crib/pnp and she rolls over and falls asleep. She also loses her shit if up past bedtime. She would go first. (She's 1 now, he's 3).
I'd put the older song and dance requiring child to bed first. A nursing baby won't disrupt them if you nurse to sleep after they're already asleep, but a sleeping baby might be disrupted by preschooler shenanigans.

When the boys were younger and not used to sharing a room (but needed to on vacations/trips) we would put the baby down first. He had an earlier bedtime and needed a bit of time to roll around before falling asleep. Then I would read stories, etc with the toddler outside of the room and explain to him that we had to be very quiet when going into the bedroom since the baby was sleeping. He was always pretty good about it and I would usually lay down with him for a few minutes or until he was calm/feel asleep himself.
At this point, I'd do it simultaneously. But in the past, whichever one sleeps harder. My oldest sleeps like a rock, so I'd put him down first, because the little one crying/fussing wouldn't wake him. Whereas if I put LO down first, he'd wake up if big bro said a single word. Or sneezed. Or breathed.
