I am so frustrated. My right thumbnail always splits in the same place -- it breaks really deep on the nailbed, so it's painful to take care of, but dangerous to leave before it gets worse. I don't know what I do to keep breaking it in this place, but it happens every single month. Grr!
Ouch, that hurts! If it's the same nail all the time I'm guessing you use this finger to open stuff etc and don't even realize it. Maybe put some glue on that spot to make it stronger?

Thanks -- I've tried the remedies on Pinterest, to take superglue and other materials to make a "patch" and it only lasts for a day or two. I've been very conscious of how I use my nail, and I honestly don't think I do anything with this nail than the others. Maybe it's the angle that weakens it or something. FWP
Orly has a system called Nail Rescue. You should be able to find it at Sally Beauty. It uses nail glue and a powder to help with splits. Maybe you could also seal with a gel top coat that's cured with a light. It would be harder than a regular polish. Nail treatments can help too. BarielleNail Rebuilding Protein or Dermelect Launchpad

i cut my right thumbnail with a knife a few years ago, and it did the same thing...it took AGES for it to stop splitting in the same spot. i think what happened is the nail bed got some scar tissue from the cut and made the nail weaker in that spot.
lucky me, it finally stopped happening. and then i snatched off a chunk of the other thumbnail sunday. so i have a feeling i'll be back on the splitting train once the damn thing grows back.
You need Nailtiques Formula 2. Put it on your nails every few days. It's a life changer. You can find it on amazon or at some nail places. Don't buy NailTek, you only want Nailtiques Formula 2. Good luck!
