Anyone bought a Pottery Barn table but not matching chairs?

I don't know about the finish, but Haverty's has nice quality chairs for good prices. We have these. They are very sturdy, solid wood and comfortable. We use them for the dinning room, but also for extra seating in our family room when we have large groups. They have held up well. They have a ton of different styles in a lot of different colors. Our dining table was from a different store.

We bought an Ethan Allen table earlier this year but bought our chairs from Crate and Barrel. We didn't attempt to match the finish though, our chairs are blue. I think it looks awesome together

I did just the opposite. I bought a cheap black pedestal table at Target and have Pottery Barn chairs! Five years and 2 kids later the chairs look great. I believe they are the Aaron chairs in red.

I have the farm chairs in red. I have the table, too but not together. Seriously though, check the table finish. Bring a can of cold soda and see if it destroys the finish. Some of their tables have warnings about spills and stuff.

DH built our table, so I didn't have an option for matching chairs really.  I ordered upholstered chairs, so that's an option for non-wood. I also just saw this picture, which I think looks nice ... so I don't think your chairs have to match as long as they are different enough.

I think it would be fine, just make sure the height of the chairs work with the height of the table.

Just a word of caution about that table, it's pine, which is a pretty soft wood and easily scratched. If it's not for everyday use, you should be okay, but if you intend to use it on a daily basis, it might start to look beat up quickly. Our PB's display model had it's fair share of dents and scratches.

I bought a walnut colored trestle table from Costco but everyone asks me if its from PB

I bought these black chairs from Target and I love them

They are very heavy, so they won't tip over or move easily with the kids climbing all over.  The only thing I don't like is that they are distressed in exactly all of the same places, but that is easy to fix myself by rubbing some black onto it.

I actually prefer not to be so matchy-matchy.

We did a table from West Elm with Restoration Hardware chairs. I guarantee no one notices. I feel like all these places are relatively interchangeable.

Our kitchen table is PB in a chestnut color, and our chairs are black from a local furniture store.

I bought my dining set when we first got married and I had no style. We don't use the chairs that came with the table anymore (but have them put away in case we need a few extras.) I bought some inexpensive black leather parsons chairs from a local furniture place. I like the look a lot more.

I bought a black pedestal table from World Market a few years ago and found some awesome x-back black chairs on JC Penney's website. The blacks don't match exactly but I love both and the chairs were sold in pairs, were cheaper than those I found elsewhere, and have held up great through 3 moves and taking them to my mom's occasionally when we need extra chairs for celebrations.
