yeah, I always print out a little calendar with dates/times and a spreadsheet with addresses, phone numbers, names etc. It might sounds silly, but then I have the piece of mind knowing I can always reference it no matter what.
yep, all of what SF gal posted. I've also found it great that we packed incredibly light and re-wore/did laundry here. I wanted to pack in 1 carry on for each of us but Princess Larz said he couldn't do that (to be fair, we had a wedding to go to where he had o bring a suit and dress shoes). I didn't bring a money belt, I brought a small cross body and found I didn't need a money belt. I wore sundresses 90% of the time an a money belt would've been awkward.
I stand by bags you can find at the container store where you stick all of your clothes in and then roll the air out. You just need to make sure you don't bring fabrics that wrinkle super easily or you need to not care if your clothes are a little wrinkly for the first hour.
I also bought a pair of Dansko (yes, judge away) sandals in a neutral color for this trip and I have walked literally miles (up to 10 a day in them with no issues. In hindsight, I didn't need to bring any other pair of shoes, which would've made packing even easier.
Bring Euros or a debit card that doesn't charge you a fee- we have had issues finding out that restaurants don't take cards. The internet here has also been spotty depending on where we are, so I printed out mapquest directions for taking public transit from airports to hotels, etc so that I wouldn't be scrambling (but we don't ever use cabs/taxis, so if you do, disregard).
Agree with photocopies of passport - I also keep scanned copies in my phone/email/iCloud for easy access.
Re money belt: eh. Not sure I'd bother. I live in Europe and would feel like a major nation lampoon vacationer with a money belt. Unless you wear a money belt when you go to NYC/SF, why wear one in Europe? Don't bring heaps of cash out, bring only one credit card and drivers license (you rarely get id'ed for drinks unless you genuinely look under 16).
What is your itinerary? What type of travel? Hostels vs fancy hotels?
Yep I have both eagle creek and the.space bag. Eagle creek ones are MUCH nicer, but it was $30/4 bags versus 2.99/2 bags of the space bag brand, and since I'm cheap, I went with more of those. I got the eagle creek ones at REI in Lynnwood in case you go that route
