I was in the grocery store the other day to purchase sweet potatoes. The organic sweet potatoes were really small. I bought 1 organic for me and 1 regular for my DH. (DH is not a big organic fan.) They were in separate bags. The cashier rung them both up as organic. Would you have asked the cashier to make the correction?
I did ask for her to correct it...It was a $.13 difference. The grocery store was not busy and the cashier did not mind making the price correction. However, I felt bad afterwards.
yes, I would have asked for it to be corrected. 13 cents here, 13 cents there, multiplied by the amount of times this happens to others...adds up quickly in favor of the store.
I don't know about you, but I don't like paying more than I am supposed to.

Well it could easily go the other way, too. Like I had a $1 coupon the other day, and the way the guy rung it in, I ended up getting the product for free ($4.99). So no, they probably aren't making bank on cashier mistakes. It's a wash. The cashier probably saw that they were both sweet potatoes and just used the same code.
BUT yeah, I would say something. Obviously there is a reason you decided to get a conventional sweet potato in addition to the organic one and not two organics.
If I noticed at the time, yes, I would point it out. I don't understand what part is making you feel bad. She didn't look, which caused her to make a mistake, so you asked her to correct it. Not a big deal.
But my real answer is that I would have bought two organic potatoes and peeled the sticker off of one and not told my DH. lol.
No. I wouldn't have noticed and I would have been too much in a hurry to run home and cook my dinner so I wouldn't have to eat at 9:30pm.
Why doesn't your husband like organic sweet potatoes?
I actually did a google search and while potatoes are on the "dirty dozen" list of items you should always buy organic, sweet potatoes typically have a lower pesticide load and are among the safest conventionally grown crops. Go figure.

Yes, why doesn't your husband like organic food? I am puzzled.
For $0.13 I would absolutely buy the organic. I don't pay attention when stuff is ringing up, so wouldn't have noticed the error. I also don't even get a receipt any more at whole foods, so I would really never have noticed.

He will eat organic. He thinks it's more hype. He would have complained if I would have brought him one home that day, because they were so tiny. The store only had a few left.
Good to know about sweet potatoes being among the safest crop.
