And dammit- how are you people getting ultrasounds so early? I don't until September 11 :,( waaaah.
I had some spotting on Friday morning, so they brought me in for an unplanned one. All is well. My original appointment, which we're still going to, is September 3rd.
how am I so pregnancy dumb? What is the nst test?! I have been pregnant before and can't remember all of this shit!
Nuchal Translucency. From WTE:
Nuchal translucency screening, or NT screening, is an ultrasound test. It screens for Down syndrome (trisomy 21, meaning an extra copy of chromosome 21) and other disorders that are caused by extra copies of chromosomes (trisomy 13, trisomy 18), as well as congenital heart defects.
It checks measurements of the fold of skin on the back of their neck, their nasal bridge, etc. We had 2 cousins with DS so my doctor recommended it for us, but I think she gives the option to everyone. We found out Liam was a boy at ours (12 weeks 4 days). It can only be done from 11.6-13.6 weeks (or something crazy specific like that).
NST is not the same as the NT testing at 12 weeks.
NST is non stress test. I had them twice weekly for the last four weeks of my twin pregnancy so that's the only reason I know the differnce. It's to I guess check if the baby(ies) are under stress of some sort.

Oops, you're right! I was thinking NTS. Sorry Thanks for correcting me!

I don't go in until 10 weeks even after 2 losses. The wait has been horrible!
It is really doctor dependent. Mine sees everyone at 6-8 weeks.
I had a bad hormone result from my GP and went to the OB like at exactly 6 weeks, so I had ultrasounds then, 10 weeks and at the NT screening at 12 weeks.
