Posts like this are why people suggested a weight loss board separate from H&F.
What? No. Plenty of people told the OP she sounded like an ass.
When this came up on MM, I pointed out that if someone is getting ass-y, call her out.
There's really two different conversations going on. The OP was all, "Oh, my friend gives up. She sucks." And I'm all about shutting that shit down.
But the second conversation is about having friends who aren't supportive of your athletic endeavors, and that's an interesting/frustrating/complex conversation.
I'll say it again: the tone of a board is dictated by the posters. If you don't like what's being posted, tell someone why you don't like it. Post something constructive. Waltzing in and being all, "This is why you're terrible" is not productive at all.
And posts like this are why people that are flybys should actually spend some time reading about all of the encouragement with the successes and struggles that we all face here. This thread included.
Look, I'm new to the board, yes. But I've been lurking and posting some. There are plenty of supportive people. But someone like me, that truly doesn't want people to see me run and doesn't have a ton of cash lying around for expensive gyms, get really discouraged by posts like this no matter how infrequent they are.
I am unclear as to what in this post is discouraging to someone who doesn't want people to see her run and doesn't have cash lying around for expensive gyms?
I'm sure many of us can offer helpful/encouraging advice to help you meet whatever your goals might be given those parameters.

Well, I look like a clown when I run, and my workout class is free where I work. So... I have no idea what the hell you're complaining about.

I'm confused.
All of us basically told the OP to stfu about judging people who don't work out.
I'm a member of planet fitness which is $10 per month and before that I didn't have a gym membership at all.
What does expensive gyms have to do with anything?

My post was directed towards the OP. I realize that people told her STFU, and appreciate it. I'm just echoing that sentiment.
OP was saying how she can't be bothered with people that have excuses for not working out. I'm just saying that sometimes those excuses truly feel valid to people in the moment. I won't go running on my lunch break because I'd be embarassed having coworkers see me. More power to those of you with more self-confidence. And I'd love to join a crossfit gym because I do much better with structured classes, but I don't have the money for that right now. So I do my best to stay motivated to walk at lunch and exercise when I find free classes at my work's gym, but it's hard. You're right that there are cheap gym memberships and ways to work out without them, but I am a person that struggles with motivation when I'm doing it alone with no structure or accountability.

Ahh ok got it. Don't let 1 person dissuade you from the board!
I'm not sure where you live, but if you search around I'm sure you can find some free activities to do.
For example, on meetup.com I'm part of 2 soccer groups that have regular pick-up games weekly. I'm pretty sure there are other health and fitness groups throughout meetup. I also know a mom mentioned there were boot camp classes targeted towards working moms that took place in the mornings at 6 that were free and taught by other members. There are a good amount of free running groups in my area that meet 3-4 times per week. Another option is back on my feet.
I used to not really be much in to lifting, but I ordered new rules of lifting for women and since it's a structured program I've stuck with it. I'm sure you could find an inexpensive copy for cheap. I think cross fit is great for many people, but holy hell it's expensive and there are other options out there, so I hope you can find something that works for you. There are plenty of people on this board that don't do cross fit, myself included, and are very active.
Oddly enough, my H&F friends are the most likely to dismiss my efforts. My exercise is on such a low level that it "doesn't count". Some days I feel like telling them I may not be running marathons, but I spend a minimum of two hrs a day exercising, and that relearning to walk is arguably as difficult as a healthy person running a HM.
