I totally understand your motivation to get them out. We had our backyard redone last year. They rushed a lot of the finsihing touches, and we were also so anxious to get them out that we just figured we would fix it ourselves later. Well, almost a year later and we still have little things that DH needs to do. They aren't big things, just time consuming and I keep thinking that I should have spent the effort and time to have it fixed before they left. So, my vote is to have it done correctly right now.
I would have them repaint the entire thing and color match the old color. It sucks but I think would be better in the end to have them all the same. I feel your pain about just wanting it done. The same thing just happened to me with a SW color. I did 3 walls. I did the 4th wall and it some cutting in on the 3rd wall... to discover the colors don't match. Ugh. I'm in the process of repainting all 4 walls now.
I would make them take the paint back to SW and tell them it is not even close, then get the paint fixed and repaint the one wall. Even with a new mixing process, SW should be able to get a match close enough that an untrained eye doesn't really notice a difference. We have done a lot of painting lately, and our painters have taken paint back to SW when they didn't think the match was close enough a couple times, and they have always been able to fix it.
I'd have them fix it, and have the match the old blue. It's bothering you enough to post, so you should have them fix it.
Unfortunately we don't have enough of the old blue. We can have SW make a new can of paint or lighten the other can but I highly doubt they can ever match our old color that i love so much. It's a very unique blue with grey and green undertones. The blue they did is nice and similar but the undertones are just not there.
We haven't decided what to do yet. We are thinking maybe just having them leave the new blue and we can always repaint the other three walls to match later if it bothers us. Otherwise we can have them paint all 4 walls a different color but then my favorite blue walls will be gone forever and also we'd have the added cost which I'm not really okay with.
Have them take the first can of paint to the store to match. They can do better than what you have. You also shouldn't have to pay any extra for this. It's their problem that they didn't get enough paint to start with.

They had already took the original can with them. SW said it was the best they could do.
It isn't the contractors fault because they were just hired for the kitchen but when they tore a wall down they had a section of the living room wall to fix/paint. The living room was painted 2 years ago with paint we bought on our own and we ran out of enough extra to resolve the current issue.
Was tearing the wall down part of the original plan? If so, I maintain that the burden to fix and pay for the paint color is on them.
I'd leave it. It isn't their fault and it doesn't sound like SW can guarantee a color you like if you have them mix more. You could force the issue and have them try to color match again but you could be unhappy with it and they you are still stuck with the color you don't want. I think the fact that they brought the old can with them shows that they did try.

Where did you buy the paint from originally 2 years ago...SW?

Yes, SW.
We decided to keep it the way it is, because they will let us keep the paint (they paid and didn't charge us) so if we get bothered at any time, we can just repaint the other three walls to match. I honestly don't think anyone will notice unless I point it out. The contractor and I noticed, but DH didn't until I pointed it out.
I didnt realize before it was from 2 years ago (until my latest post), so I completely get why they are not identical. I would prob deal with it and if i REALLY hated it I would paint the other walls.
