Has anyone used it? Is it helpful? We are hoping it will be helpful in making us more accountable in our spending, and maybe having more savings. Reviews seem positive... I think I'm doing to do the trial. Looking for personal experiences and thoughts, too though.
I use it with DH and really like it. I like the idea of only tracking what you've actually allocated that month (I.e., what's in the bank vs coming next paycheck). It's definitely been worth the price.
Also, their message boards are really nice, so between them and us, the free classes and the recorded tutorials I doubt there's any question you could have that couldn't be answered.
If you do decide to buy, one of us can save you $6 with a referral code as well.
Haha, I logged on this morning specifically to post about YNAB. I've been listening to the podcasts on my way into work and I'm intrigued. I use Mint but I'm just meh about it. I'm looking forward to seeing what others have to say about the software!
I use Quicken right now which is great for tracking, but I don't really like the budget function.
Would YNAB track rental income and expenses and portfolio performance?
Sent from my SM-G900I using proboards
You could definitely track rental income and expenses. I would consider a separate budget to do that, but you could probably run it through your regular budget with some categories if you wanted. (The accountant in me is saying to keep it separate anyway, but either way you decide there are other people on their website who are using it for business purposes.)
As to the portfolio performance, it's not really designed to do that because it is an envelope system.
I downloaded the trial so I'll run both programs for September and see which one wins.
Maybe I'm just so used to all the tax details in Quicken that YNAB seems too simple? But I don't use Quicken for taxes, just expense and retirement tracking ...
We won't be having the rental income for a few more months.
