How old is he? I would just swaddle him up and instead of putting him down in the RNP, put him in the crib. And as far as what you do next, that is really up to you and your fatigue level. When they are tiny, its not like they are going to have a bad habit just based on one night of you being inconsistent.
I had this from when I was pregnant and used it under the crib mattress. It was a very slight elevation, but I think it helped in transitioning from the RNP to a flatter surface.
My kid slept in her crib until 6 months old. I started offering the crib. When she'd cry, I'd move her to the swing. After a few days of this, I put her in the crib and she rolled over and went to sleep. We never looked back.
Basically, do what works for you. Try the crib, if it doesn't work you can always try again tomorrow. Personally, I'd start with a nap in the crib and take it from there.
He is two months, is trying desperately to roll, and hates being swaddled. I guess I'll just try it tonight and go from there. Maybe at night vs. a nap he won't notice as much.
He may like the security of being swaddled when he is in a big crib though, as opposed to the RNP. If not, just put him in a sleep sack. My DD was 8 weeks when we transitioned her to the crib and it was a non event, even though she had slept every night until then in the RNP. I could tell that she was getting to where she wanted more room to stretch her legs and move her head around, so the transition was fine.

D slept flat until he was diagnosed with reflux. I was worried about the breathing thing, especially since he was a preemie. So needless to say, it was a non-event to go from flat to incline back to flat again.
We started DD in her crib around 7 weeks. She slept very well in it right away at night. However, naps in there were a different story, and she didn't nap in there well until 4 months.
