How many photos do you typically get from your photographer for your baby's photo sessions? I emailed a photographer and she told me that from a typical session we'll get between 30 and 50 photos. I didn't think that sounded like very many, but perhaps that's the norm?
We got 26 photos from our newborn session. It didn't sound like that many, but it is only one photo of each pose. I'm sure she took hundreds of pictures in the 1.5 hours we were there, but she chose the best photo from each pose to edit and give us. Now that I'm looking at the pictures, I think 26 unique pictures is pretty good!

I think it depends on the photographer. We've used 3 different photographers.
Photographer A - 30-35 shots copies of each image in color & BW - 30 minute session Photographer B - 185 images - 1.5 hour session Photographer C - 150 images - 1 hour session
Photographer A staged the shots. (ie - sit here, look this way, smile, etc) Photographer B & C were much more go with the flow I'll capture moments as they happen, they basically followed us around the park & let us do our thing.
I much prefer the go with the flow approach. Not because we get more shots but because they have done a better job of documenting M's personality.

As a photographer I promise 15-20 (usually ends up being 20-30). From sessions we have had done usually about 20.
When it gets beyond that many of the images end up being repetitive and have usually been taken within seconds of each other. Also I find that myself (and most clients) usually only print 3-4 from each session at most. I get it as a mother that you "want ALL the images" (it is really hard for me to delete any), I trust that the photog will give me the best ones.
Think about on here when people are posting so many that look the same and trying to choose-I just trust that the person that does this for a living will pick the best.

30 is what I offer (I'm a photographer). I'll give more if the session yields more, but over 50 or 55 is just too many for a typical 60-90 min session.
