I always think I'm 26****. I'll be 35 in a month. Holy shit.
The students are starting to come back to town. I saw a girl on her way to soccer practice and I realized it had been 17 years since I did that. I vividly remember my first day of soccer practice in college. I was terrified.
Then I realize that the girl I saw could have been BORN on the day I went to my first practice. BORN!! :drink:
****If you are 26, I don't want to hear about your middle school escapades
The other day, when I realized I've been out of dance the same amount of time that I was in--15 years.
Kids that were born when I was in high school are now in high school. One girl that had a kid at 16 now has a senior in high school. That one, I cannot fathom!
I looked around at the brand new teachers. They look young. And damn, some of the females are so thin and pretty and haven't had 2 kids in 18 months. And they don't have soft bellies and giant tufts of hair regrowth and no time for doing manicures and pedicures (even at-home ones).
I felt old.
Plus this is my 9th year teaching. Almost a decade.
Yesterday at freshmen orientation the seniors were complaining that the current freshmen were born in 2000. 2000! They told me it made them feel old, ha.
I moved to WI for grad school and then never left. That was NINE years ago. Then I realize that I've known my husband for 12 years. THEN I remember that I met my BFFs in 1997. SEVENTEEN years ago. UUGGGHHHH!!
Oh, and watching the VMAs the other night made me feel crotchety. Put some pants on, dammit!
My little brother turned 34 the other day. I thought he was still 19.
And everyday I inch closer to 40. That is SO weird to me because I don't feel almost 40 but I guess this is how almost 40 feels. 40 always seemed so very far away and old to me, but really it's not.

I know you said you didn't want to hear from the 26 year olds, but I'm 23, so I figured I was good...ha!
But seriously a family friend I haven't seen since she was 5ish started high school this year. I won't offend anyone by saying that makes me feel "old", but damn time goes by quick!
Also when annoying teenagers come through my line at work and call me ma'am I die a little. I just wanna be like "hey I'm only a couple years older! I'm not that old!", but then I realize I'm almost 10 years older than most of them.
Yesterday at freshmen orientation the seniors were complaining that the current freshmen were born in 2000. 2000! They told me it made them feel old, ha.
I told them now they know how I feel.
Remember when Conan used to do the skit, "In the year 2000....."
ETA: there aren't too many things on this years list that seem outrageous to me, but there have been other years where stuff on the list is hard to believe
A girl I used to babysit when she was an infant almost hit me with her car the other day. I was really pissed until I realized who she was, then I was just sad because she's 18 now. In my head, I'm only 22. That is absolutely not the case in reality.
Carding people who were born in 1992 and having them be old enough to drink. That hurts. My dirty thirty is right around the corner... I'm not ready... I think I'll turn 27 (again) instead.
The movie thread and people talking about being kids when certain movies came out. Talking about my "little" brother to someone and realizing he just turned 31.
I'm 42 (almost 43). My 25th HS reunion was this year. I am old enough to be most of my staff's mom. And a kid I used to babysit is having her 2nd child. I want to barf.
