Dh got a call last night after we went to bed that he missed.
This morning he saw it was a sergeant from work. So he texted him. And the guy called him right back.
Another sergeant who he sees every day committed suicide last night. He has a wife and kids. He was going to retire next month.
He does have a history of depression and has been hospitalized before, is (or was) being treated, etc.
I am so sad for him, for his family, friends. It's so heartbreaking to think that someone is just that sad, feels that hopeless that they feel suicide is the only thing left to do. That poor guy!!!! I feel like this has been happening so much lately.
This is the fourth deputy/sergeant in as many years to take his own life. It is just so sad.

I'm so sorry.
I work with transitioning vets and retirement is such a scary time for them. Couple that with depression and maybe some PTSD, and it can be so overwhelming. I send my condolences to his family and his unit.
I'm not sure if this is military sergeants or police sergeants but I imagine either way they would see some pretty dark, messed up stuff that would make it more likely. T&P with his family.
