A few years back, an 11 year old boy died while shooting an Uzi in MA. It is clearly not safe and I have no idea why people want young children to shoot powerful weapons.

I'm pro-gun and I'd never dream of letting my boys anywhere near a gun like that at age 9. Fucking idiot parents. I can't comprehend why they thought this was a good idea.
I heard this story this morning. I am horrified and so fucking sad for this poor girl. An asinine decision made by her parents that will follow her for the rest of her life. 'Merica and her guns. W.T.F.

Yes! I posted a link about the story on Facebook and people are seriously acting like it's no big deal because it happened before :/ (I'm in MA so they reference this instance) Ummm. So if it's already been proven that an 11 year old is physically not ready for an Uzi (nevermind psychological readiness), why does this place allow 8 year olds to?!
It makes me sick there are parents who think this is ok, and that there are places an 8 year old can get access to an Uzi.
Give me one reason why they need this skill/experience? Like a serious reason and not oh because they can legally. I want to know from someone who thinks kids should shoot guns like this, wtf do they need to do this?
That poor girl living with this her whole life. All on account of grossly irresponsible parents. Ugh.
TBH, I don't understand why young kids need to be hunting either.
Honestly, I have a family member in a state where hunting is common I guess. It really bothers me, I'm an animal lover and I don't like kids handling guns, so together it's just too much.
They have routinely over the past few years sent via email and or text, pictures of the kids (now 15 and 11, but it's been going on for years), holding the foxes and laying with the deer and wearing huge smiles, and it makes me shudder. To see a kid and a gun and something dead all in the same pic is just extra gross to me and honestly it colors how I view these relatives
I've shot several high powered weapons, including an Uzi. Even as someone experienced with weapons and expecting the recoil - it was scary. A child has no way of anticipating recoil or correcting their aim with a weapon that can shoot 600 rounds per minute.
Why anyone, gun enthusiast or not, thought this was a good idea and would end well is beyond me.
I've gone to the outdoor gun range and I've seen small kids shooting guns. A lot of times with no eye or hearing protection. They have no idea how to handle a weapon and their parents are standing off to the side taking goddamn pictures.
