3 1/2. In our local preschools we have 2 year old programs, 3 year old programs and VPK (3 hours of voluntary prek which is paid for by the state). You have to turn 4 as of September 1 to do VPK so I wanted to have one year in school before that.

DD was 3 in Feb, the rule for our pre school is that you have to be 3 to go into the 3 class or 4 to go into the 4 class. So she's going at just over 3.5 yrs old.
My baby is a Valentine's Day baby, and he is now 2 1/2. I wanted to put him in the 2 year old play group that my older two did but the time conflicted with my older kids' school schedules.
So he will do a nursery school program next year when he is 3 1/2.

W is starting next week, he is 2.5.
IME, the majority of parents send their kids to preschool starting after their 3rd birthday. It's kind of like a bell curve, some send them for the first time at 2, the majority at 3, and then some for the first time at 4.
