from a landscape design company (or contractor or similar)?
I'm wondering if my expectations are too high (they very well might be). If the project timeline changes, when do you expect to be notified? If you email or leave a voice message, when do you expect the message to be returned? If the communication wasn't what you expect, when/ how would you bring it up?
Longer version: Our home is 75ish years old and the backyard hasn't been redone for 50+ years. It needed to be gutted. We hired a landscape company to do the heavy work (design, demo, grading, cement/ brick work, sod). We'll do the planting. It is like pulling teeth to get any communication from the designer/ project manager. The project has been delayed multiple times and we NEVER get any communication from him until we call or email about when the new dates will be. And even then, it takes at least a few days, often a week or more for him to get back to us. Clearly, I'm frustrated with this. A simple, "hey, we're running behind due to xyz, we'll get back to you next week with a new estimated timeline" would be nice. IMO, this is the professional thing to do. The silence is making me edgy. I hesitate bringing it up with him or the ownder until our project is complete because the work needs to get done (and soon, it's already a few months behind schedule). At the same time, if he doesn't know it is bothering us he can't do anything to fix it. Argh.
We paid for 1/3 of the work. The demo is done and the patio is in, but the rest of it is not done and is still a huge mess/ unusable at the moment. We do have a contract, but it doesn't specify what type of communication we will receive.
