Sorry, this is kind of a vent. I'm just a bit freaked out right now. I've been on the road some 6 am today. I have to drove three hours for a work meeting. I'm in a company car I've never driven before, and it's been raining like crazy the entire drove so far. I had to turn onto a pretty twisty section of interstate, and the rain was so bad I couldn't see the road and I did a boy of hydro planing. I'm pulled over at a rest area right now practically shaking. I don't think I'm making it to this meeting on time. :-(
Take a few minutes to calm yourself. Then spend some time familiarizing yourself with everything in the company car so you feel more comfortable. Then get back on the road and drive slow - hydroplaning and not being able to see the road ahead of you are both signs you're driving way too fast for the conditions. Finally, before your leave the rest area call whoever is running the meeting and tell them you may be late because of road conditions, hopefully this will alleviate any pressure you feel to drive faster or make good time on your way there.
