I'm curious about your labor plans. My sister's doctors have always encouraged her to induce on or shortly after the due date (much to my sister's chagrin), but I don't know if that's because she has big babies or if it's the norm.

Thanks, Sapphire!
Since both the baby and I are healthy, my doctor is will to go 1+6 (so one week, plus six days, bringing it to 9/3). If there is no progression today, then she will also send me for another ultrasound, to make sure everything is okay. (Getting a good measurement, etc. on him.) I do know that my blood pressure and his heart rate are HUGE factors, and they will induce if there is a problem with either of those things. (On the low or high end for both of us.)
Another thing that factors in would be if there was any protein in my urine, which could be a sign of not processing glucose/sugar correctly. My doc will go with what the mom is comfortable with, as long as it falls in that time frame/both of us are doing okay.
The sooner baby's out, the sooner you can drink! Hooray!
Not going to lie, I enjoyed the hell out of a glass of red wine last night! (And I am thankful my doc is okay with this, because honestly, I would have done it anyway. It helps to relax things, and could help get things moving. Win-win, in my book!

Yum!!! In a I'm-not-judging-just-curious-manner, how is that okay? All I know is you start sharing a bloodstream at 6 weeks. I know nothing else about pregnancy.
Sharing blood, yes. Though at this point, his developing is already (for the most part) done. And the amount that would actually travel to him is actually pretty minuscule, given that I ate while drinking it and it was only 4 oz of wine.

Gotcha! I knew being fully developed would help but I didn't know how much would get to him. Again, no judgment.
Completely fair! It's an interesting topic (that it seems everyone has an opinion on), and a lot of controversy/information about. It is actually kind of fascinating. Strangely, the US the most conservative about any alcohol consumption during pregnancy as a whole. I personally couldn't get behind a glass a day throughout the entire pregnancy, but once and awhile at the end is okay with me. To each their own, and I am honestly not sure that there is an all-for-one blanket answer on it.
I genuinely still feel really good. I am pretty tired, but I don't sleep much, because I either can't get comfortable, or I have 8 million what if questions/to-do lists running through my head. Other than that, I am working, still wearing heels to work, and still getting in around 5 miles a day of walking. Everything is just a little bit slower, and tying my shoes have recently become difficult. I miss my wedding and e-rings, but I know they will come back soon. I honestly really don't have any complaints.

That is very true.
FWIW, when we were vacationing in Croatia a few years back, our hosting friends were pregnant with twins, and the mother drank 1 glass of wine with every single meal we had with them. I did notice she stopped after the 1 glass, it was always with a meal, and she was only maybe 4-5 months along at the time. Both twins came out healthy, happy, and completely perfect (for babies, that is ). She did say that most often expecting mothers in southern Europe tend to do spritzers to tame-down the alcohol content so they can have more than 1 glass, but she preferred just the one at full-strength and never had any complications.

Very interesting! On another topic entirely... explain the hosting situation. Did you know them prior to your vacation? Where did you stay? I love living through everyone else's vacations and would love tips or trips for future travel.
Also, I'm not surprised at the US being most conservative simply because I think many people think along the lines of "better safe than sorry", and in particular it's easier to tell people "don't drink at all". Also, I agree that there's a lot of controversy on the topic, especially because lack of education or information. That's why I was originally curious - I honestly would have thought that since you share blood, it would reach the baby just like it reaches the mother and drinking 1 of anything could have a huge impact on such a small body, but I admit I didn't know (nor cared enough to do research) and thus couldn't judge or have a formal opinion of whether it was "right or wrong".
Oh, they were friends of my H's for a long time and had been bugging us to go see them.
The husband is from Croatia (and obviously lives there now) but back in the 90's when they were at war with their neighbors, his father sent him to the US to go to college because he was the only son and this way he wouldn't have to fight in the war. So he came to Texas and became a longhorn, where he spent 8 years getting Bachelor and Masters degrees from UT and ended up being a roommate with my H at some point. (My H went to another college in the area though, not UT). They were both major soccer fans, my H played on scholarship for his university, so they ended up really bonding and becoming great friends from there.
The Croatian and his lovely wife had come to the States a couple of years before we went to Europe and told us to come on over whenever we could manage and they would take care of nearly everything else since they have a couple of houses in Croatia including a beachhouse on the coast. Of course I was sold on that idea... who wouldn't be? Free place to stay along the Adriatic Sea, and he took us on a yacht excursion for 3 days to island hop! Plus my ancestors are from Croatia, so I was really intrigued to learn more about my great-grandparents "home land".
We intend to go back there again at some point, it is really beautiful and they are definitely a big wine-consuming country! I think next time I won't pick summer-time though, because some of the places didn't have great A/C options and it was really hot. Cold wine helped out on that, though.
