On one hand, since we pay for recycling service, I'd be a bit ticked someone was getting it for free by using my bin. I'd also worry about them stuffing it with non-recyclable items or causing it to overflow so animals get in the can.
On the other hand, we get rewards points from the company based on the quantity we recycle. As long as they weren't putting in items that aren't allowed, overflowing my bin, and/or leaving me no room for my own stuff, if they want to help me earn freebies, maybe I wouldn't complain too much.
You mean a STRANGER who cares about recycling and personal space.
Okay, post a pic of your face and tell us your kids' names so we can all feel less like strangers!
But really, I am not putting out teasers, causing trouble, or doing anything to bother anyone. Who cares?
LOL. Okay. I "care" because it's annoying to have someone be all super casual what's up guys let's chit chat like old times EXCEPT I WON'T TELL YOU WHO I WAS, IF I WAS SOMEONE, OR ANYTHING ELSE.
My neighbour puts all sort of shit into my recycling bin. stuff that is NOT receyclable. yard waste, an old crock pot, you name it. It pisses me off but I haven't said anything to him about it.
I I have extra recycling and the bins are out I may put it in a neighbour's because why would they care. They've already left for work, and it's getting picked up in a few hours anyway.
I would throw that crap right back into their yard.
I would - we have a large trash can size bin but it only gets picked up every other week. We fill it up quickly so I would be annoyed if we had to hold things back or throw them away just because someone else had potentially filled it.
Ours are provided by the city and they're big so hopefully we never run into it.
Same here. Others do use it, and it annoys me, but i can deal. What chaps my ass though, is when they shove boxes in there without breaking them down. A little courtesy would be nice.

I would be annoyed because we pay for it and our bin is always pretty full at the end of the week. If they asked, or if it was occasional, it wouldn't bug me.
It would bother me if I was running out of space because they were filling it up with their own recyclables. If everything fits by garbage night, then I wouldn't care.

I would be annoyed because we pay for our bin. In your situation, I would still be annoyed because you are running out of room for your own things and because if they put something in the bin that wasn't allowed, you'd incur the fine.
If they are doing it when you're not at home, so you can't find out who it is and speak to them directly, I'd put a sign on the lid of the bin and see if it deters it at all. Something like, "Please do not use our recycling bin. Thank you." Just short and sweet. If it continued past that, I'm not sure what I'd do. Try to catch them somehow, I guess.

It would bother me. I know it shouldn't because it really isn't a big deal but it would annoy me. I would probably wind up spying out the window until I see who did it and then running out to ask why they were doing it.
