An HRBP (a friend, not the one who supports the org) told me to send an outlook invite to the ED to talk about the open AD position. While he doesn't check email, he (or his admin) live by his calendar. Way too forward?or brilliant?
Fwiw the ED is on vacation this week, so another option is leaving a VM, but I'm worried he will have a ton of VMs and I will get lost in the shuffle.
Also on a side note, I got my mid-year evaluation and I'm rated "ready to promote!" (This is the highest ranking one can get and only a limited number of people in an org can get it). Woo! That means I can now get unsolicited job interviews from other departments.
I have worked at companies where this would be the standard approach and others where people would laugh in my face. So, it really depends on the company.
Definitely sounds like a good move. Include a note that you are interested in discussing the open position and if the time doesn't work to please suggest another time thta works.

My friend has been with our company nearly 20 years, so I'm guessing this may be standard approach.
I have no idea what any of your abbreviations mean so I can't tell what you're asking. Sounds good, though, so I'll just echo lasagnasshole's "Go for it!" Lol.

Yeah, I agree that it's highly organization-dependent. In some places it would be a big overstep, in others it would be seen as a professional courtesy to just get on their calendar if there's something you want to talk about. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
I want to know how someone can just not answer professional e mail... Mind.blown.
Good Luck!!!!
To be fair, he is extremely busy and has been operating without a director for this role for over a year. It's my understanding he got by because of the former AD, but she resigned. Plus all of the other departments he runs.... I'm sure his admin screens his emails for important stuff.
cosmos- total aside, Go Cougs! Your Rutgers is playing my Washington State in Seattle tonight.
And we are kicking your ass!!!
Go Knights!!
Punt bitches! Oh, wait... Holding.
Have you ever heard the phrase "Couging It"? It's a reference to the special ability of the WSU Cougars to lose a game they are winning. Lost a game they were up by 3 touchdowns in? Coug'd it!
