I really really want to go back to crossfit but I'm having trouble with their class times. I have a hard time leaving work consistently at the same time and I can't go running or to the gym after work with DS, plus I've never been a traditional gym person. A 9round gym opened close to me and I like that I can start anytime of the day so I'm not rushing to meet a class time or rushing out to pick up DS from school. I'd like to hear any experiences y'all might have good and bad. I've never done boxing or kickboxing but loved crossfit from the first day I started.

Disclaimer: I am not a fan of cross fit. I tried it for a month and hated every minute of it.
I have been boxing for about two years. I switched from my more traditional boxing gym to 9 Rounds in May. I LOVE IT. I like boxing and kickboxing though. These are franchises so I'm sure each one is slightly different. However, the basics - nine three minute circuits, 30 second active rest in between each round is true. There are always two instructors. Everyone of them is super encouraging. Each station is adaptable. I leave the gym just spent in 30 minutes.
ETA: Seriously best stress relief.
ETA 2: The no class thing works so much better for me too.
I've been going to a 9round for over 2 months, and I love it. It's awesome being able to go in and get started at whatever time works for you (when they're open, of course) and kickboxing is an amazing full-body workout. It's only 30 minutes, but I always leave exhausted (in a good way). I've never done crossfit, so I can't compare to that, but it's definitely right up there with my bootcamp classes that I also take.
my year membership is up at the end of the month. I am not renewing because I am annoyed that they are not open on Sundays and close extra days over the holidays. So this weekend they are closed Sat, Sun and Monday so that is annoying. Also they are upping their rate to include a heart rate monitor which is synced with their system. What I like is the 30 minutes and I am dripping sweat but I like to get in and out and not have to deal with a heart rate monitor. I don't do the wraps I bought gloves so I can get in and out quick. I am signed up to try a crossfit 10 week program at a different place starting in Oct. I would have signed up another year but I already wrote a letter to corporate and they still close the extra days and then the news of the rates/heart rate monitor was the deal breaker for me.

Go and give it a try! Ours let's you try for free. I really liked it, but didn't join. (I just went with a friend to try it. I already spend $$$ at a different gym.)
I'm a 9Round owner but just wanted to say that all of the clubs in my area that are equipped with the My Zone Heart Rate Monitoring System make it optional for their members. It's an awesome way to get the most of your workout and its much more than just another heart rate monitoring system. I will let your local 9Round explain the rest.
I've been going for about a year and a half to mine. I never used to be able to stick to a gym, but I'm not tired of 9round yet. I go straight from work, done in a half hour and home for dinner. I'm stronger and more fit. I like the no class times, and the attention you get from the trainers. The downsides are their hours. They don't open until 9am so I couldn't go before work. Mine gets very busy around 530pm when I go, so sometimes you're forced to double up on rounds. Which isn't a big deal to me, but can be for others.
