I did my fasting 1hr. glucose test yesterday....the Dr's office called me earlier today to let me know I failed, and that I need to do the 3hr next week
I was so hopeful that I would pass so that I didn't have to do the 3hr, but it looks like that didn't happen.
I'm not sure how much stress can affect your blood sugar (if at all?), but I was pretty frazzled after my drive to the Dr's office yesterday. I left at 7:30am for my 8:20am appointment, but traffic was soooo incredibly horrible that I didn't even get to the office until 8:55am (The Dr's office is only 14 miles away!)...
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that is the reason I failed...otherwise it looks like I might be jumping on the GD wagon
FWIW I failed the 1 hour by like 4 points, then I passed the 3 hour. It sucked having to do it and sit there for 3 hours, but at least I don't have GD.
"In pregnancy, the cascade of hormones that effect blood glucose and insulin resistance (prolactin, progesterone, estradiol, human chorionic somatomammotropin, and cortisol are the strongest) generally peak between 26-32 weeks. It is important to find a time to test for gd that catches the majority of gd cases yet still allows adequate time for preventative treatment to head off potentially serious effects. Over the years, the most optimal testing time has been determined to be at about 28 weeks (end of the second trimester) for the majority of women, slightly earlier for women with a multiple pregnancy."

Good luck!
Thanks! I failed by a lot...the doctor said they look for a reading around 130, and the girl that called me said mine was 197? So yikes!
I'm still hopeful that I'll pass the 3hr though...I need all the luck I can get!
I failed the one hour as well (by 8pts), but I was pretty confident that I would since I had GD with my first pregnancy. I asked to skip the 1 hr and go directly to the 3hr but my dr wouldn't allow it. I haven't done the 3hr yet but I sincerely doubt I'll pass. Good luck to you!
I just took the GD test here (UK) at 28 weeks. They do a 2 hour test. It really wasn't bad. They make you drink Lucozade - like Gatorade but carbonated - and it was way better than I remember from doing the GD test in Canada (drink was so sweet and made me nauseous).

I failed my early 1 hour (12 week appt) by 30ish points. My 3 hour came back 10-15 mg/dL below the limit at each measured time point. I hope the same applies for you!!!

Mine was 187 and was instantly put on insulin instead of doing the 3 hr test.

Yikes! I have no idea why they're making me do the 3 hr. I guess...The lady did take my blood a little sooner than she should have, but I don't know if it would have really affected the results that much - I definitely should have been lower by then.
So far, they've mostly been worried baby is too small because I haven't gained any weight yet...I'm interested to see how this turns out
I'm wondering if I'll have to do this again. I did it at 8 weeks and passed no problem. I don't wanna do it again!
You'll have to do it again, at 26-28 weeks, because that's when it usually develops. I had to do an early test too because I had it in a previous pregnancy, but it didn't exempt me from the standard testing.
OP: I failed my early 1 hour and passed the 3 hour easily on all draws. I failed my later 1 hour too, but didn't pass the 3 hour (by 4 points). I had to track my blood sugar thereafter and definitely saw an increase in #s when I was under stress. In fact, the only times my #s were out of range were when I had extremely stressful events occur.
