I came home from work to a styrofoam cooler thing from Omaha Steaks. It was addressed to the previous owner of our house, who hasn't lived here in almost a year. I called the phone number on the label and they said there's nothing they can do but call the person who ordered it. I'm thinking it was a business gift and I doubt the person knows the updated contact info if they didn't know enough to not send it here in the first place. Omaha asked me to try and find them, but we have no idea where they moved. I'll ask next door, but other than that I'm not too inclined to go on a search and rescue mission with these. If I don't hear anything back, I guess it's free steaks for us!
Awesome! We got two boxes of Omaha Steaks a couple years ago because one of the hospitals in town bought them as thank you gifts for some local doctors. Several of the doctors at DH's office received them and two of those docs gave theirs to DH because the Docs were Muslim and the boxes were the bacon-wrapped filets and twice-baked potatoes with bacon bits. We thought it was a pretty interesting gift choice considering probably 25% or more of the more popular doctors in our town are Muslim.
Yum! Are there any of those potato balls in there? They are so good!
No potato balls, but that sounds like it has great potential! We are making Irish nachos today (fries covered with melted colby jack and bacon) so I'll be content with that

compassrose - they are phenomenal! We had never heard of them, and saw them on a menu at a pub when we were in Burlington, VT a few weeks ago. So good. But, cheese and bacon and deep fried potatoes definitely puts them on the "Very occasional" treat list.

Makes me think of my ultimate 'very occasional' treat- there used to be a restaurant in NYC that made 'disco fries' (fries in melted brie with truffle oil. Yum.)
